Sometimes I am, sometimes I'm not. :greenie: Most of the time I feel that I am though...

It depends on the situation. :spin:

<sb>Self-right·eous</sb>

<i>1. Piously sure of one's own righteousness; moralistic.
2. Exhibiting pious self-assurance: self-righteous remarks.</i>

<sb>Pious</sb>

<i>1. Having or exhibiting religious reverence; earnestly compliant in the observance of religion; devout.
2. Marked by conspicuous devoutness: a pious and holy observation.
3. Marked by false devoutness; solemnly hypocritical: a pious fraud.
4. Devotional: pious readings.
5. Professing or exhibiting a strict, traditional sense of virtue and morality; high-minded.
6. Commendable; worthy: a pious effort.</i>

Not piously, because I'm not religious in the least, but sometimes I guess I am self-rightous.

Oh hell yeah! I do it mostly to piss off my brother though. I recently berated him for his ned-bashing ways. I'm pretty hypocritical too!

No I am not.

I never fully understood what it meant. The dictionary never fully explained as well. Leeza's post makes the word make a bit more sense. So from what I understand... yeah I am self-righteous to a certain extent.

Erm, sometimes, I guess.

Self Righteous, Righteous by yourself. Thinking you by your own thinking or choosing can go to heaven cause you are perfect.

Nope, perfection is an unobtainable state by mere mortals unless bestowed by a higher being.

Boiled down it means:

You think you are perfect.

I am, in pretty much the same sense as Lezza.

certain that one is totally correct or morally superior

Only on the topics of religion, Star Wars, anime, Politics, America, and Final Fantasy/RPGs in general.

haha. far from it. i pretty much do whatever i want to. whenever i want to. even if i know its bad and that i shouldnt be doing it. and if i was self righteous, then i would be a hypocrite.

I read the definition and I still don't know what it means.

I'm not really sure.

Perhaps Leeza could put the definition in English, because I dont understand it >_> :-P

IT means do you do what is right? When your friend tells you he's drunk off his ass, do you wonder if you should get him help or do you wonder why he didn't invite you to the party? If you see a starving animal do you think about feeding it or do you get a broom? Would you feel obliged to help an old lady cross the street?

I'm really starting to wonder who's deleting all my posts and why they're doing so.

Anyway, not at all.

The only people who could delete your posts, DMKA, would be Mods or Admins and I suspect it's because you probably post a lot of spam posts or posts that really do nothing to contribute to the thread topic.

Perhaps Leeza could put the definition in English, because I dont understand it >_> :-P
Self-rightous is more a religous term and so it's hard to define it in non-religous terms so I'm not sure myself, but isn't it when you sort of contradict yourself in your thinking or beliefs? Like saying that you really feel that smoking is terrible, but at the same time you chew snuff. Or something like that.

Umm... I really don't know. I think I'm right most of the time. I constantly get people lost and tell them the wrong thing. I guess I'm just over confident sometimes, not self-righteous.

I think I am. I guess it really depends on some factors.

Nnnnnooo...that'd be hypocritical...I think being self-righteous is putting yourself on a moral pedestal over petty things.

I'm not religious at all, but I'm self-righteous enough to be safely looked upon as the Right Hand of God. Without the piety.

I am; but I suck at it. xD

I'm not self-righteous at all. I probably come off that way sometimes, but I'm sure it's not true.

It depends on whether or not the second hand is on an odd or even number when I wake up each morning. Basically dictates the rest of my day.

I'd like to think I'm not self-righteous, but living where I live, I do probably fall victim to it from time to time (I'm not religious by the way). Though, I actually think I'm right in putting myself on a moral pedestal above people who think it's okay to beat up members of a different religion. But then again, wouldn't most people?

Though is that actually self righteousness, or plain old common sense?
