So folks, this quesiton has been pressing me for a while now. Is it GREY? Or is it GRAY? I don't care if your English teacher says they're both correct - one GREY/GRAY must be clearly better than the other. So he is your chance to make your voice heard. Thrust your GREY/GRAY into glory!

Usually I use gray.

I prefer Grey. Dunno why.

My name is...something..?
06-26-2005, 07:04 AM
Gray, though there are times when I use grey.

I use them both because I'm never sure which is right. At least I'll be right half the time.

I always use grey and I always get corrected by my Nazi spellchecker.

I like switching back and forth between the two. You know, mix things up a little.

Must be getting early, clocks are running late.
Faint light of the morning sky looks so phony.
Dawn is breaking everywhere.
Light a candle, curse the glare.
Draw the curtains, I don't care, cause it's alright

I will get by. I will get by.
I will get by. I will survive.

I see you've got your fist out. Say your piece and get out.
Yes I get the gist of it, but it's alright.
Sorry that you feel that way.
The only thing there is to say.
Every silver lining's got a touch of grey.

I will get by. I will get by. I will get by. I will survive.

It's a lesson to me. The eagles and the beggars and the seas.
The ABC's we all must face try to keep a little grace.

It's a lesson to me the deltas and the east and the freeze.
The ABC's we all think of and try to win a little love.

I know the rent is in arrears. The dog has not been fed in years.
It's even worse than it appears, but it's alright.
Cows giving kerosene. Kid can't read at seventeen.
The words he knows are all obscene, but it's alright.

I will get by. I will get by. I will get by. I will survive.

The shoe is on the hand that fits. There's really nothing much to it.
Whistle through your teeth and spit cause it's alright.
Oh well a touch of grey kinda suits you anyway.
And that was all I had to say and it's alright.

I will get by. I will get by. I will get by. I will survive.

We will get by. We will get by. We will get by. We will survive.
We will get by. We will get by. We will get by. We will survive.

Grey.

Gray. One of my best friend's last name is Gray so that must be correct.

I say gray but spell it grey. My maths teacher says greh, but then he says yah goona stah longha, and sih bah doown! He's got an odd accent, so most of what he says is hard to understand :D

I spell it grey, but looking at if in all these posts makes it look weird, so maybe I'll start spelling it gray.

I use the term "gray" more often than "grey". To tell you the truth, this is the first time I've seen "grey" spelt that way.http://thekel.homestead.com/files/smile_scratchchin.gif

How do we know it's all the same to elephants? Maybe the difference to them is how dark a shade of gray is?

I spell it Grey.

One of my best friend's last name is Gray so that must be correct.

I have a friend who's last name is Gray as well, so I assumed it was the wrong way to spell the colour. :D :D :D

Grey, I think. I probably slip in between the two without thinking, though.

Last names have nothing to do with the correct way to spell a word just because it shares the same pronounciation.

Rini

"Gray" looks funnier and poetic somehow, because I normally use "Grey" and it sounds and looks so "normal" to me :P
Otherwise it's not that big a deal.

There's a difference in connotation to me.

I prefer using grey, as it's a hardcore 333333 or 555555, but gray has the feeling of having a hue, usually of green or blue.

Ah, this thread is confusing me, and I don't even know which one I use anymore. I think I'll avoid using for the rest of my life. How often can the word come up anyways?

:D

Old Manus

It's like 'disc' and 'disk'.

Either grey or gray is how it is spelt in USA and the other is how it's spelt in UK. I can't remember which one is which btw

Shoeberto
06-26-2005, 09:15 PM
I'm pretty sure it's not so much of a regional difference as it is just personal preference. My English teacher wouldn't have a problem with me interchanging "grey" and "gray," however he might get me when using "colour" rather than "color."

Maybe your friend and my friend are related! Or maybe they're the same person!!!

Yes, I know. I was making a joke. I still spell it gray, though. That much was serious.
