i started a new file in ffvii yesterday and i was playing today. i just got done riding across the swamp and saved. but i hadent fought the midgar zolum in a long time so i just decided to give it a go.
during the battle i used a lv 17 cloud, lv 16 tifa, and lv 15 aeris....... and i WON! no lie! he just never used beta on me, so i just kept healing with aeris (tifa got booted out of the battle) and attacking with cloud, and he just died. i cant believe that just happened! i didnt think u were supposed to be able to kill him that early. i mean, i wasnt trying to train to beat him or anything, it was a spur the moment thing.

well, im happy :)

I just recently beat the Midgar Zolom as well, with a level 15 Cloud, 15 Red XIII, and 13 Aeris.

It may seem hard to beat the Midgar Zolom at an early state, but it's really not. All you have to do is use Barret's MindBlow (Second Level 1 Limit Break) and it will not have enough MP to use Beta. (Which is kinda stupid because the only reason why I and I think most people fight it early is to learn Beta)

first there are no cheats for final fantasy apart from gamesharks and action replays but i dont have any of them .
second as impossible as the zolom seems it is possible.
the world record for beating FF7 is lvl7 and that is a fact so if that guy/girl can beat sephirth at lvl7 s/he could probbably do a level 3 zolom attampt or something like that.(i think the sectret to low level attempts is lots of encancing materias.)

I've done it at level 18. Elemental-fire is your friend. I just walk over because I want Beta later. With a talisman and elementa-fire in my armour, I can survive a Beta at level 18, then use Beta on the worm, which kills usually kills him.

Very nice I couldn't have said it better Mirage. I also used the fire elemental setup on my armor to get beta.

I beat the midgar zolom with no problem. It didn't use "beta" on me nor did i use any form of MP damaging attacks. I'm just lucky i guess.

As soon as I got the Fire Ring I went back and kicked his ass.Cloud was Lvl 19.

How would you even get out of Midgar if you were level 7? You start the game with Cloud at level 6 with a lot of experience and the first battle, which is forced, will get you to level seven. I think that person who said that he beat the game was using cheats. There are tons of boss battles that give you experience, and I dobt you go through many without getting to level 8.

yeah i mean, later on when you fight Diamond WEapon, that gives you 50,000 exp. and that would surely put you up at least 15 levels if you were level 7.....hmmm, he must have used cheats.
the lowet level i have managed is about 40 i think...

lol, beating the Midgar Zolom on a low level is easy. Most of the time, booting someone out of battle/Beta is a counter-attack (In that order, and only after it raises it's stance, although you'll get in a few hits before it lets rip). Thus, find a way of killing it without attacking it.

It's Bio, duh. Poison that bastard and just keep healing x)

I'ma try and do it tonight, I'll upload a movie of it later.

You don't gain EXP when you're dead, you nit. xD

Oh sure, I'll beat the game with 3 dead characters in my party! I am so going to kill Diamond Weapon with this strategy!

If you do that while you're blindfolded, you get Aeris back. XD

Way to be a moron.

Dead characters gain 0 EXP, live ones gain full, and out-of-party characters (Including those you've yet to obtain) gain something like half. All you need to do is figure out who to have in your party and who to keep alive, and wham, minimal level achieved.

I always found it more fun to just try and make it across the swamp without the chocobo. Of course, I've only succeeded twice.

i have to interject here......

i mean even if you did alternate characters througout the battles and keep em dead.....there no way in hell you could stop your any of your characters from not reaching lvl 8.....

by the time you leave midgar you would have sued most of your options already.....

sure the first boss battle would lvl cloud to lvl 7....not forgetting the exp you get from the dudes at the beginning...

so you have barrett to juggle with here.....you can see where im goin here.....

i cant see it being possible.....though the best way to disprove this theory...is with actual evidence....so unitl we see evidence poiting to either side of the case....we count it as rumour....and leave it at that....

i always find the midgar zolom would kick my ass if i got into a fight with it...however...wouldnt be the case if i WANTED to fight it....

its all about preperation and strategy.....or in the perosn who posted this threads case.....LUCK! :p lol

I read that some Japanese guy beat the game at level 7 I never believed it, but i read it. One thing you have to take into account though is that if you are at a low level, the monsters you fight are also at a low level. This includes bosses I believe. And you don't have to fight emerald or ruby to beat the game. So... I don't know but it is still impossible to have beat the game at level 7 without using cheats.

I'm not talking about the first boss, I'm talking about the first BATTLE, right after you get off the train. And the random battles and the bosses will not change with a lower or higher level. Both ff-fanatix and Sephitachi7 make valid points.

So the guy kept Cloud dead and used a few jugglers to beat the rest of the game and then switched to two underleveled characters at the end. Equalling a party of all 7s. Or was it just Cloud lvl 7? 'Cause that's really not a record. That's just stupid. You don't need Cloud to beat the game. Some say Cloud shouldn't even be in the game.

That's the biggest load of bull /xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif I've heard in my entire life. FF7 is like a batery, while Cloud and Sephiroth are the two polarities. The battery ain't going to work if only one polarity exists.

Well said Rengori. Nice analogy too. I believe the game is close to perfect, then again that is just an opinion.

It certainly paved the way for the RPG(It was the first RPG I played)and it deserves its standing as a classic. But what pisses me off is all these spin-offs and /xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif that are being released.Imo its robbing FF7 of its dignity.

Rengori
07-08-2005, 07:26 AM
I wouldn't say that. The game didn't really feel complete at the end, and there were still a lot of questions to be asked. I hope these spin-offs top it off well or I will be very discouraged by Square Enix. Of course, FFXII has to screw up too.

Actually a level 7 run would be possible, if every member of your party was dead, you know get in an encounter, kill two charachters, run, switch them for living people, lather rinse repeat until you hit 1 living character only, only 1 gets exp.

Reles

I remember this! Although not sure what levels I beat him at. But I know that I did beat him with Aeris, when her limit break came on it'd just heal her with that, then she'd attack, and eventually he died.

yeah, it's not possible to beat the game in level 7 even if you run from ALL the fights, because of all the fight you can't run away from. It's just BS.

Are you guys saying thats someone BEAT Midgar Zolom at LV7 or that someone COMPLETD the game at LV7?

Also its impossible to defeat Zolom at Lv7 because of the exp you gain during boss fights in Midgar, not to mention random encounters.
By the first time you reach him you'd be at Lv14+.\

I've been a little off topic here....

To get back on topic, congrats for beating MZ.

so when you reach the end, you have one max level character and a team of level 7's. you then take on sephy with your level 7's and win. ie beat the game on level 7

sounds like a lot of hard work for the sake of the final battle. the guy who done it must have been pretty confident he could win at such a low level.

but still, he cudnt use cloud or barret in the final battle as they have forced battles on their own where they wouldnt be able to avoid gaining exp

You don't have to use your main party during that fight, nor let Cloud be alive.

You can run away from almost every random encounter, and you can simply have your main party dead during boss fights.

Are you guys saying thats someone BEAT Midgar Zolom at LV7 or that someone COMPLETD the game at LV7?

there are some battles where cloud fights alone so it would be impossible to beat game at lv7
