Yo<img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif">aka Amano doesn't have four skulls in the middle of his name. Just adding another replacement should do it; replace "Yo<img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif">aka Amano" with "Yoshitaka Amano" or something ;)

edit: oh smurf, this stretches the smurfing tables. Yet another reason to add an additional filter imho

How about we just call 'im Bob? I'm pretty sure they don't filter out Bob.

Bob Amano. See? Brilliant!

Honestly, now.

This has been discussed numerous times before and we've always come to the conclusion that we aren't going to make an exception to the word filter just because some Japanese dude has a funky name. Besides, you can always use the html tag trick to get around it, like I get around the f-bomb filter in staff.

Or it could be that clout and/or BoB are terrible admins.

EDIT: edited the thread title

Actually I think what Randy is putting forth here is that when you type out Yo<img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif">aka Amano--the whole thing--it'll get filtered to Yoshi<b></b>taka Amano, which doesn't really compromise the swear filter in any way that I can currently predict. But I guess you always have to be careful about giving Frito an inch, and it's not really a huge deal to just do the <<b></b>b><<b></b>/b> thing since Amano's name doesn't exactly come up every day anyway. So yeah, man.

I'm touched that you still have that. :<3:

edit: Yo<img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif">aka

edit 2: dammit, it just bothers me when I see it on other people's posts. And it screws up thread titles :(

I don't have a problem edging my way around the word filter in this case, but others do and that annoys me. I take it this problem isn't going to be solved though, so I'll just shut up now.

And if you all weren't such whiners, we'd be using it and not wasting time complaining about this.

It's harder for some members to stop swearing than for them to get around the swear filter...apparently...

Back in the good ol' days, we didn't have any filters. If you wanted to censor someone, you just shot them in the face. "Hey, you stupid smurfing asshole, I'll smurf- *shot by a sniper*"

Ah, the good ol' days. :rolleyes2

i use the word shunk to stop myself swearing in front of the kiddies at work. like. "you're a shunk" "i'm a way for a shunk" "i'll shunk you up" "i've got a huge shunk" "that smells like shunk" so the same thing can be introduced here.

and if yoshi'tika is gonna be excempt can we excempt scun'thorpe too?

since when is <img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"><img src="/xxx.gif"> censored here?

Anyway, I agree with Aaron on this, although I don't know if it's worth the effort.

edit: I guess I never noticed since I never use that word. :moose:
