Rostum
07-02-2005, 02:34 AM
Umm.. not really that rich at all. ;; I have 700,000 gil in my pocket, and around another 600k-700k in equiptment.

Gil in your wallet won't make you a better player. The moment I have enough gil for an equipment upgrade, I spend it. I have 4k on me. I just spent 200k on Flare. The most gil that's ever been in my wallet was an even 1 mil, and that got spent on a Penitent's Rope straight away. I'm always broke, but my equipment is valuable.

Lionx
07-02-2005, 10:00 PM
We are talking about how much gil we have O_o I usually can find better things to spend. Like 1milish for a Ammet +1? while nice i feel that my gil can be better spent elsewhere. Like crafting. I like to save up so when i really do need something i can actually use my gil. Like Flare is necessary anyway, all ancient magic except Freeze and maybe Burst are kinda not as necessary.

Meh, if I only bought the "useful" spells, I'd have nothing but ice nukes, stun, sleeps, escape and warp II. I've acquired every spell I can learn, but 2/3 of them are useless. Am I dumb for wasting gil on spells that'll never see use (hello stonega II)? Are parties dumb for never thinking outside the box, forcing me to burst distortion from level 1-75 like a trained monkey? I imagine both answers are half true. Either way, I never have much gil unspent. I only have gil when I'm buying something, for the most part. Any small change I might have is for travel expenses.

Lionx
07-02-2005, 11:51 PM
I dont know what parties you been in but not every PT is a Distortion Skillchain for me. I am sure you are being sarcastic about that..either that or i make my own parties. That and i think it is dumb to waste money on Stonaga II. Its your gil so you can spend it however you wish, but just because i dont spend my gil as much doesnt mean i am a bad player as well.

I am poor. Why? Because Bastokians suck.

The most I've ever had at one time was just over 300,000. Never even got close to 1 million.

Rostum
07-03-2005, 01:04 AM
I've been saving gil so that I can do a craft (which I have started), and for any equiptment I might need in the future. Also, good to save some for traveling and foods/drinks. >.>;

Saving gil is usefull rather than using it at once all the time. But if it works for you, then great. ^^

Oh, Sorry LionX. I see the misunderstanding. When I said gil in the wallet doesn't make one a better player, I didn't mean people with lots of excess gil were bad players. I meant, it's not helping you there. If I have a million gil in my wallet, or I buy a penitent's rope for a million gil, I still have a million gil. In fact, putting my million gil in a commodity like a penitents rope means that I now have 1.5 million, because of inflation. That million in your wallet loses value every day as prices on goods you need increase. Day by day, the actual value of a sum of gil drops. The price of your equipment on the other hand, is most likely skyrocketing like everything else on the AH. Sorry again. I didn't mean to imply that having lots of gil was a sign of a bad player. I just wasn't very clear.

Lionx
07-03-2005, 02:21 AM
Inflation works on certain items. Pentinents rope will only get higher, however some other things like RaiseIII goes down in price and using gil on say spells are nonrefundable. Depends on the item at hand.

Ouch!
07-03-2005, 06:58 PM
I've got somewhere close to 550k on me right now. The most I've ever had was around 800k, but I've spent most of that money on equips that I'll be selling back relatively soon, so I suppose I'll be getting most all of it back.

I have about 10 gil on me at any given time.

Lionx
07-06-2005, 10:45 AM
This is not me, however this is what you can get if you painfully use your gil into crafting. His gil is extreme, and the thing he just synthed is prolly worth over 20mil. Its one reason why i feel blowing all your gil into spells and gear is stupid. Investment is best.

I have about 226k right now. The most I have ever had was 1.200k. I'm getting ready to start crafting though, so I will probably be losing money soon.

Lionx
07-07-2005, 01:41 AM
Oh yeah to add on the inflation thing, i just wanna say that theres many different items that SE will change. Soon your 1mil item all of a sudden becomes worthless. the game changes dynamically and the economy changes along to show it. Examples are Astral Rings, they used to be in Castle Oztroja and are 115Kish because THFs pick them alot. However because people cant get AFs from them, they moved them to BCNMs which makes them more of a rarity and therefore *hop* 900K it is today. Same with Utsusemi Ni, it used to be from Yags in Oztroja, but then they put it in BCNM40, and blaow 5K to 750K+. Now RaiseIII used to drop regularly from HNMs therefore 5K, however they removed the drop rate to rare and hard to get from BCNMs, blam 3million. But with the introductin of ENMs that you can do that drop RaiseIII its dropping and hit 600K now and steadily climbing down.

lordblazer

IGE?

I did a lot of BCNM's and never spent much and begged a lot lol. Also fished a lot. When I was able to fish up legendary fishes and the fishing market was booming.Thats were I made my millions.

Lionx
08-11-2005, 01:55 AM
Any experienced fisher knows that its much harder to get money off fishing thanks to fishing nerfs(thanks alot botters you killed it for everyone). Especially post fishing patch of the new system, legendary fish is easier to catch, my friend can get noble's laides really easily at low skill. Everyone knows that without another craft lvled high to actually use the fish, its useless to just fish and get anything into the millions, that and you hit fatigue level fast. Unless you fished for a long time/bot i dont see how anyone can get millions off of this.

BCNM requires leveling and alot of seals. Even then i havent gotten that much gil, the most gil you can get is through BC60s anyway. Unless you do ENM but those are not BCNMs.

Begging? People still give gil to beggers these days? O_o

Rostum
08-11-2005, 02:32 AM
I don't see how you could make 15 million from just fishing and BCNM's. >.>; Expecially if you can't do BCNM60's. Even the ENM's I've seen require you to finish a fair few CoP missions to access the area, and they are level 40.

Hmm, and I don't think if you beg for gil in Jeuno, someone's going to hand over 15 million gil - I wouldn't even hand over 1000 gil.

I did a lot mor ethan that. I also got into food crafting, cloth craft.alchemy, and blacksmithing. It took a looooong time until I got to a point were making gil game easy adn then I had to make more gil than I was losing. That part wasn't easy. But here the point. Why should I give a damn what a bunch of idiot skeptics think?

Idiot skeptics? That's not very nice, Omecle and lionx may be Taru Taru porn stars, but they're not idiots.

We are skeptical. Why? Because 23 million is a lot of money. Even 15 million is quite a stash.

Maybe I should be more clear, it isn't just a lot of gil, it's a HELLUVA lot of gil. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that I know less than a handful of people who have that kind of (legitimate) gil.

But you're right, you really shouldn't care what we think, this is only an internet forum afterall. But we really have no reason to believe you. You may have 15 million, you may not. Who cares?

I don't think saying you have 23,000,000 G and then later saying you only have 15,000,000 G does much for your credibility. If you've lied once, why should we believe you a second time?

EDIT: By the way, I'm down to 100k, but I've got at least 700,000 G in all the equipment I carry at any given time. I'd say that's not too bad of an investment.

Bah my numbah one rule is don;t use the auction house unless your oging to make cash literally lol. There are players with valuable stuff and they put it up at the AH for less than what its worth or it never sells lol.Numbah two rule is. Do lots and lots of networking.

I started a crafting LS. Then we just integrated with another LS. Then some of them branched off and formed other LS's and some of those people formed crafting LS.

Anyway networking is the most important thing if you want to make a lot of gil. ITs a slow process lol never a boom lol.

So what kind of game are you playing? O.o; First you say never to use the AH unless you know you are going to make a lot of gil. Then you say it's good to take risks - which is defenatly not a garanteed gil maker.

It seems all your ways to get gil, that you've explained to us, either contradict itself or just doesn't seem like a viable way of doing things at all. I am sorry if I sound like an ass for this, but you really need to either speak properly about it and not make up stuff, or you can give us information on what you really do for gil - else there is no way to believe you have actually made 23 million gil, or should I say 15 million gil, which one is it now?

Me and my wife share basically all of our assets so I can't really estimate without her.

At any given time we probably have at the very least 1 million in liquid assets across our 12 mules and try to keep a decent amount on our persons.

In gear alone I have trouble estimating really. Several of our pieces are huge cash pieces like Astral Rings and such. If I had to estimate I'd have to say we have between 15 and 20 million gil in equipment alone and perhaps even more. Keep in mind each of us works on several jobs and keeps a lot of extra (mostly HQ) equipment on our mules for our lower level jobs.

I'm at about 1,850,000 gil. I just bought a seer's +1 set (except for the body, one MP is not worth another 88,000 gil) and before I did that I was at around 2,100,000 gil. Turned out that my armor was worth loads more than 700,000 gil. I had almost 1,500,000 gil worth of equipment, which I think isn't too bad for someone whose highest level is only lv40. =3

Miriel
09-23-2005, 02:09 AM
I have the entire Seer's + 1 set. :D

Combining all the equipment I have on both my Pandy and Asura characters, I have at least 2 million worth in gear and spells.

Ouch!
09-23-2005, 02:49 AM
I don't know about your server, but on Midgardsormr the seer's body piece only costs 12,000 gil, but the seer's +1 costs 100,000 gil. For a difference of one point of MP. So not worth it.

Yeargdribble
09-23-2005, 04:11 AM
lol... and I have 2 Seer's Tunics +1... One day I overlooked it on a mule and wanted one (for the pretty white border more than anything) and bought another.

BTW... after some recent aquisitions such as my wife's Igquira Weskit... 2 Astrals and an Ether ring with inflation factored in for the cost of gear we once bought at a cheaper price (bought Garrison boots for 100k... now worth 50k) I would estimate our combined net-worth in gear/spells etc to be 40+Million. Funny how it seems like such a big number but still we always feel so broke lol

Lionx
09-28-2005, 01:04 AM
Always factor in the time and the pickaxes and stuff. I believe theres NO 100% profit to be made anywhere. On that note Staves are crafted by high lvl(probably 80+...gotta check) woodworkers, so therefore because its not a hard craft to necessarily go up there compared to some, you only make profit on HQ staves i bet like the Ice Staff.

Yeargdribble
10-01-2005, 04:55 AM
I find that woodworking in comparison to other crafts is only a mediocre money maker up high. The best money makers are HQed Shihei which sells as fast as you can put it on AH and HQ staves. The NQ staves cost as much or much much more to make than they do to buy. Even at 100+3 HQing Elemental staves (75) is not extremely common so don't expect to make a ton of money. However, pre-RNG nerf Woodworking a was a nearly pure profit craft all the way to 60.

Another thing is that Goldsmithing and Smithing are pretty expensive even early on but the very first synths can actually make profit. You don't even need to be to level 2 in either to make a few ingots out you materials. If you farm your own fire crystals and have some time and patience turn them into ingots to make them worth more than they are as a crystal stack alone. They will sell much slower but be worth much more.
