I dont know the hack but on another VB board theres this hack that lets any double post that you do, go into your original post edited automatically. Just wondering if you would like to add-on the hack if you want to find it D:

But then we'd have no way to tell the idiot newbies from the smart newbies.

I already know what their answer to this is going to be: too much work to install it. Even though it'd actually be less work to install it than to fix a year's worth of double-posts.

Sometimes double posts are necessary. That is the answer, The Man.

We'll let The Man install this one.

Sometimes double posting is necessary, especially when it comes to a story thread, where you may not get responses from one chapter to the next.

With a minimal amount of recoding it can be fixed to allow double-posting in specific forums, like the Arts & Writing forum. FG's double-post hack, on the vB2, allowed double-posting in the arts forum and the spam forum. I couldn't be arsed to reinstall it though because no one really cared about double-posting there.

Sometimes double posts are necessary in other forums if you are working on a game challenge and want to update the thread, or if you have asked a question a couple days ago and have additional info you want to add. I almost always allow double posts if they occur within a few days of each other, and this happens on occasion.

It's also possible to configure a double-post hack to allow multiple posts in a row by the same user if a set time has elapsed.

Can you also configure it to handle my stock portfolio?

The Man

that would require too much effort.

Well you all bring up good points, its just i see it alot and thought it might help the double posting. But i can see why its not there. Thanks for considering though.

Nice Idea lion. Like that mods dont always have to do your stuff for you...

Interesting idea, but I doubt any of the admins are willing to mod this board as it hinders any future technical support from vB.

When vB 3.5 comes out, we may be able to add new features like that as modules.

You can delete your own posts, you know. So the mods don't have to do *everything*

I thought I saw that feature float around here a couple of times...

I guess not anymore though. A double-post tool would have appended this to my first post. :\

I don't mind doing it for you. :)

the manual fix is better in this case

I believe the mod side of merging double posts quickly and easily will be in vB 3.5 anyway :p

You just think about it and it's done in vB 3.5.0.

When I say "newbies" I mean "everyone that I don't personally talk to that registered after the vB was installed."
