My 20gb has (or will have) 5,000 songs. Looking at my whole music collection I could easily fill the 5,000.

I have that many.

As far as iPods go, I don't like them. I have an iPod Shuffle, which I got for free. It's fine for now.

But my problem with iPods is iTunes. I hate iTunes.

I may be getting a Rio Karma 20 GB in a about a month. Does anyone have any experience with one?

I have an iPod, but I never asked for it. I like it though; so much simpler than carrying around a huge cd player. The only problem is that the earphones make my ears hurt if I have them in for...a few hours. I could always get new ones, but that takes time out of my busy schedule.

I much prefer to own my music in a physical form. With all the artwork and suchlike on records and cds, a big collection looks quite impressive and it's something you can be proud of.

I would think about getting an iPod if I were to travel, but I would still buy cds rather than download music.

Or you can buy CD's and then rip them.

We've had a topic like this in the past.

Basically, iPods are fine, but other portable music players are a much better deal as many of them support more formats, have longer battery life, more features, etc...

I don't own a portable music player but Creative labs music players are often a better alternative to an iPod.

I can't live without my iPod. But I suppose I would have been happy with any really large-storage mp3 player. It does look rather sleek, though, but the telltale white headphones mark you as a theft target.

Right now I only have th default 32MB stick, so not very many. I'm saving up to upgrade it 'cause I also use it for videos, manga, and emulated ROMs.

The more I hear about iPods the less I like them.

Depends on the memory you stick you've got. The one that comes with it is 32 MB but they can get up to 1 gig which is the size of the iPod shuffle.

I use my PSP for listening to music, too. It's pretty nifty, it can play .m3u files (playlist files) and even shows album art.

I'd love an Ipod, although I'd probably pick a different MP3 player first, partially because it would probably be a bit cheaper, and I wouldn't have to use Itunes. But I don't have any money. :p

My Motorola m500 is perfectly fine with me. 5 GB is more than I would ever need, because my playlist only consists of 383 songs and that's less than a gigabyte. I can't comprehend how anybody could have a playlist of over 1,000.

Not everyone listens to an assortment of songs they like. Sometimes I want to listen to a band, not just random songs I like. I've got 17 gigs of music.

I don't have anything like an IPod, just a trusty CD player. What happened to the good old days when we'd rush to the stores for the latest releases? I see kids at school with their Ipods and they're all like, "ZOMG, NUMBAR 54524562364235 IS GUD."

I couldn't stand to flip through over 1000 songs, let alone remember most of them. =p

The main reason I want an ipod is because my expensive discman wont survive much more of me carrying it everywhere. I had two of them and one of them got covered in water and the play or stop button wont work because I fropped it so many times. My CD's are all getting scratched and Im not going to go make a load of burned copies just for the sake of keeping the originals safe. Plus I hate swapping cd's constantly. Ipod is perfect for me.

I don't mind iPods, but personally I'm happy with my Mp3 player, it can hold up to 1000 songs, and to be honest I don't see me wanting more than 1000 on there at a time. :)

They are so freakishly expensive here, I wouldn't even consider buying one. I have a 256MB MP3 player, which is modest but cool. A 1GB one would be nicer, though... and not nearly as expensive as an iPod (which costs around 5 times as much).

Yeah. I've had my iPod for about 2 weeks, and I have 400 sounds on it, but the vast majority of those are CDs I've ripped. I only have about 50-60 songs that I've gotten from iTunes.

Two words. Battery life. No, actually four words. Battery life is ABYSMAL. I'd prefer my portable music player to spend more time flooding my ears with sounds than being a slave to the plug socket thanks.

Yeah, you're definitely right about the life. It doesn't last 12 hours. It last more like 3 or 4. I have to recharge sometimes once a day. But I still love the iPod.

I'm not a fan of Ipods either. I used to use a CD player which was no problem for me because usually when I am out I have a bag anyway so carrying a CD wallet was fine please the sound quality on my CD player was far superior from any you could get from an mp3 player. They cut out chunks of your song with their silly compressions and you are not meant to notice :|

Then I sat on my CD player one and the lid fell off so I need to resort to my mp3 player which has about a gig of memory, though it doesn't have as many songs on it as a normal one (due to me cranking up the bit rate of all the songs I rip to as high as I can get it).

I really don't like iPod whores, you know, the kind of people who walk around showing off their iPod and wishing they were a black sillohette. I hope they get mugged.

Als white just isn't my style and I am not having a iPod with U2 on it of all things.

P.S. They don't even look that nice.

It arrived yesterday and it rox. The touch wheel makes me feel all godly and it took about twenty minutes or less for it to scan more than 1000 songs in my documents and load everyone of them onto the ipod and this is a new model with colour screen that can upload pictures and display them even though its not an ipod photo. The ear buds even came with two pares of soft covers to put over them so I have no complaints with them and any other set of ear phones will work fine also. I havent had any battery trouble. I charged it last night for less than three hours and the battery was full and its been running great all day (plus I left it run as I slept last night and the batter has yet to kick. Yeah it was expensive but its such an upgrade from burning cds, carrying a klunky disc man and skipping songs that arent working because of scratched discs. And this is only the 20gb (5000 song) model. Every complaint Ive heard for it has proven false with my ipod to say the least. If you ask me rebel wannabes just dont like whats popular.

Well, the iPod is super organized, it organizes your songs by playlist, artist, album, song, or composer. I usually just use artist and play list, because on the playlists, you can see all your purchased music. :)

James Latimer Cockney Rebel brought his iPod to my house, and it was actually pretty suave. The battery life was complete ass, though. And I'll never get one until technology is so advanced they only cost twenty quid, because for the price they charge i'd expect the bastard thing to be able to write and create the greatest songs ever made on the spot. And the ability to hold 15000 songs is nothing to me because it took me 6 years to get to 1000, so yeah. For now CD player is fine.
