What is the deal with the Aloha T-shirts, straw hats etc. I know that you can make a whole outfit of useless stuff but does it have any effect?

they sell for loads but as a challenge beat ozma ,hades,kuja and necron with only aloha equipment.

Are you quite sure? Apparently, if you equip the entire team with every bit of the clothing set, then, when you're losing badly in a fight, they perform a special attack. If I remember correctly, the remaining character washes away all the enemies with a tidal wave. Could some check that up? It's been a while since I last played.

You sure? Are it is they went to trance and perform a special attack? I am really interested if Aloha had this ability much like FF VI "near-death special attacks".

The Aloha Gear is, I think, just so that you can have characters who are stylishly dressed, but completely defenceless. Just an amusing challenge.
