View Full Version : *stands up* I am afraid of chatrooms

Yes. They scare me. Even #eoff, which by now, shouldn't affect me at all, but I can't even go in there. Just thinking about it is bad enough. Now, look, I've gone and soiled my pants. I believe I have this fear because my parents always told me never to go into chatrooms on account of all the 50 year old men out there ready and waiting for me. Still hasn't gone away I suppose.

So topic: Have you ever been in a chatroom (#eoff counts >=O)? Do you feel the same way as I do? Am I an idiot? Are chatrooms as scary as I've been led to believe? Are they, god forbid, fun?

Or if that fails, I suppose we could talk about pie, for the fifty-millionth time. :rolleyes2

I used to go in Yahoo! Chat all the time when I was young. Now I just go in #eoff. They've never bothered me.

But chatrooms are mostly scary because of sick perverted freaks imo but those are like mostly on AIM

wait, AIM chatrooms are now porn chats, sorry, wrong chatroom :D

Yeah, that place has always creeped me out. I think I read too many teen magazines when I was younger.

I'm not afraid of them, I just don't like them.

Chatrooms are way too busy for my tastes. Thus, I steer clear. Or just lurk for a time. :p

I can tell you what I hate about chatrooms; you get 3 or 4 people who are having a conversation and the rest who are in the chatroom do nothing. That drives me insane

#eoff is fun for short periods

I am what they call an 'irc addict.'

Thank you.

I have no problem keeping up with a ten person conversation, and if I don't want to, I don't say 'zomg, I can't keep up!'

I am what they call an "irc lurker."

In that I tend to join and not say anything and quit five or more hours later.

Sometimes they're a lot of fun, though. Maybe I'll go into #eoff right now. Yay!

How do you know WE're not 50 year old men looking for a good time?

o0o0 no-one will ever find out your secret SomethingBig unless you go off blabbing about it like that. EoFF has a chatroom now??!?!?!

Chatrooms are awesome! Yes you can meet 50 year old men, but you can also meet great great people. I've been going to chatrooms since I was 10. #EoFF <3

When I do go to #eoff, I usually idle. It's fun for those first five seconds when you join and someone yells out your name. After that, I get lost in some sort of strange lingo...

For example, if I were to Alt+Tab and copy the most recent line of text...

"faygo my bad"

Exactly.

Four out of the six times I've been sexually molested have rooted from chatrooms but I still find a lot of enjoyment in them, odd.

One time... when I was a small little boy... I loved them so much.

Chatrooms are fun, even if I don't say much. It's a good thing I can type pretty fast, though. Sadly, I've never been to EoFF's chat. :( I think I'll stop by a little later.

People like to IM me after being in a chat room 10 seconds.

Then they ask me what's my favorite position. o_0

I've been in the chatroom at muse.mu & that's pretty much about it. It's not that fun though, because the only people you will find there are Muse groupies. >_< But the two admins sometimes go in & some of the mods do for a laugh & that brightens it up a bit. I've never been in #eoff, all due to the computer I'm on, because it won't load it up properly. & I've never tried loading up that thing that cl_out has mentioned in a thread. When I get a computer of my own then I'll go in #eoff. Chatrooms don't really bother me. They say ASL I say FRO. Which is **** Right off. I'm not evil in the chatrooms but I can't stand people saying that to me [Now I know people are going to use that as an advantage to wind me up :p ]. But I don't think that #eoff is a bad place as there are friendly people here & you can tell when someone is acting weird or suspicious on chat. I don't go on MSN as well, I'm just not really interested in it at all. But I'd like to go in #eoff sometime so I can get more involved with things. :p

The first cahtroom i went in was one of the MSN chatrooms a few years ago, it was so funi, i started helping out ome 15 year old with her BF, giving her bad advise, lol. I was around 12 i think. I stayed up all night in the chatrooom, drinking loads of coffee and load music, by bro even joined in and me best mate.

But now the only chatroom i go in is the one on my site, but its not as fun as the msn chatrooms, before they got closed off.

When I went into #eoff for the first time, a certain ex-CK was really mean to me in it, so I got this giant fear of #eoff, but I overcame it. Now I just don't go there. xD

There's no old men in #eoff.

Oh wait Joel goes to #eoff. ;)

#eoff is full of awful, awful, idiotic new people now, so I can't honestly be bothered to go there.

It'll never be like it used to be unless all the new people are banned and the people who used to go there are forcibly returned and tied to their computer chairs.

Or I get a time machine.

I used to go to MSN chat so much before it got closed down *sniff* Good times.
I'm not really afraid of chat rooms, I just think unless the topic is wide ranging, i.e. not a conversation between 2 people concerning how to get the 'omg super-ultra-banana-sword' in some uber-obscure game, then the appeal is kinda dampened.

I visited #eoff twice in my newbie days and made a complete fool of myself. That doesn't exactly scare me, but the chatroom will forever be linked with those memories, and so doesn't seem that fun.

Pfft, I'm always a fool on #eoff. ...

Oh, I'm always a fool. My mistake.

The only chatrooms I can do are #eoff (and probably anything else on the FFChat server, I guess. I just don't!) and #HH. Because everywhere else the 50 year old men really do lurk. :shifty: I used to think they lurked on #eoff as well, and I got zingy thrills by going on and screaming 12-yr-old-AOL-speak at them. "LYK OMG U GUYZ R PERVERTZ!!" :(

Are you talking about when you first went onto the chat? xD Yes, I remember when you told me... xD

Anyway, I only go on the #eoff chat, and #HH... Like Resha!

Yes! xD  When I first went on I was too scared to disclose my age or anything, because I thought that if people knew my age it'd make me...vulnerable to paedophiles. <- True story. :( XD
