Burn Teioh!

How to I get to beat Teioh in the Gold Saucer races with my gold chocobo? Do I simply have to keep feeding it greens until its stats are maximized? And which items can I win?

Well it does help to feed it loads of greens, and you can win loads of really good items like the precious watch armour and the cats bell.

Don't feed it too much. Your chocobo can get fat and be slowed down. I lost 3 chocobos that way.

didnt know they get fat, thats kinda funny. i usually block teiho in the begin of the race and he doesnt catch up, think my gold has 150 speed and 999 stamina.

just use L1 + R1 up and square (sprint if u need a short lead on him), i can usually beat him off the line and maintain it for the race.

You don't really notice they're fat until they can't run.

You should be able to beat him fairly easily with a Gold. Feed it some greens and stuff. Just dash a little in the beginning, and dash till you're dead in the end.

yea, Gold Chocobos don't slow down in any of the "special" areas of the race. Like the end.

edit: Also, greens don't slow down in the short course end, and blues don't slow down in the long course middle.

Try holding down all of the L & R buttons simultaneously,
it seems to regain Stamina pretty well that wall = more Dashing.

my black one better than my gold for some reason but you do need a good one to beat teioh.

Teioh's stats are always higher than your chocobo, but he doesn't work to his full pontential. If you have a properly bred and fed gold chocobo you can beat him almost every time if you gradually accelerate (square button I think) on the short track. The R1/L1 trick helps as well.

i think i only beat him like once with tifa as the rider, but i pressed all shoulder buttons and saved almost half of my stamina before getting close to the end when he starts gaining up on you. :confused:

teioh doesnt alway have higher stat.im sure it is possible to get your stats higher than him.

I just get ahead of all the chocos and stay ahead, they usually block him off for me. That and I press R1+L1 and jam on the square button, and then sprint at the end just in case. He has not beaten my golden choco yet :D

BIG TIP: If you can't immediately surpass the other chocobos with a long dash, your chocobo isn't fast enough to beat Teioh. You always need to get ahead of everybody at the start of the race 'cause that is when they move the slowest . . . or the stupidest. Something like that.

By the way, breeding can help you get a better chocobo. Sure gold is fast, but every new offspring gets a boost in max speed and stamina from their parents. So mate your gold with any other chocobo and you may get a faster one. The key is to ask Chole right after the new chocobo is born and she'll tell you if it is faster than the others.
