why do n00bs post n00b threads? it seems every day there is a new n00b thread. all they do is introduce themselves and then others beat them with sticks or fishes, i've seen it happen. anyway to give this thread a topic: did you do a n00b thread when you joined and why?

No. I didn't even introduce myself! :p I just started posting!

Nope. But just incase all of you are confused on who I am...Hi I'm Reles, check my profile for details. :D

I didn't make a newbie thread because...well...I'd rather shoot myself then have someone call me a newbie.

My newbie thread is what made me stay. Cid posted in it, which came after leaving a board where the owner had a serious god complex. It was nice to see a staff that realized that they were people.

Because its decent, nice, and gives me a chance to do my regular twaking :twak:

I did, because Cid was handing out mod positions. :D

No, I didn't. I didn't realize there were such things back in 2001. :greenie:

No, I didn't. I didn't realize there were such things back in 2001. :greenie:Same here though I was registered this year. I just went to the FF1-4 forum to ask 2 questions (My first 2 threads) and I also acted like a dumb ass so I changed my way. If you read my old posts then you'll see how dumb I am...

...Wow I feel like a loser...

My retarded n00b thread is the topic of a n00b thread thread :whaaa:

Mwahahaha! :chuckle:

I should just leave these boards before I contaminate them with my pathetically easily amused existence :elk:

Whoa, awkward.

But no, I didn't. I don't have anything against newbie threads at all, but I really didn't want to make one. I just started posting. Because....making one would have made me feel stupid, for some reason.

I do like welcoming, and seeing new people though, so I approve of them.

I took a wiser course and went to lurk in #eoff.

Newbie threads are for n00bs.

On mine, somebody warned me to be wary of Psychotic and PG - from this I assumed them a married couple. I also think I was compared to a penis - several times. Hence, this avatar being a tribute to my newbie thread.

There are newbie threads because people like to introduce themselves to the forum. There is a much better chance that they'll get a bit more popular by making a newbie thread. & as for the beating with sticks & fish, that's just madness.

Answer to the latter: No I didn't. Reason being because I thought it would've got locked because they weren't allowed. & when I first started posting I was posting in the FF fora instead of GC.

>>> No, I never made one.
But if you want to get recognized by people you should make one or atleast post a lot because this forums are very huge and years could pass and no one will notice you..

People say these "newbie threads" make you more "popular." But I don't ever remember these so-called newbies. We get 5 like everyday.

Yes I made Newism: An Epidemic? because at the time there were over 10 newbie threads on the front page alone. It was a grand thread indeed.

Yes, I made a newbie thread. I saw another one and thought, do I have to do that? So, I made one.

And then, I joined the chat! xD And like it was said... You can get popular through the chat. xD

Brand Spankin' Newb was my newbie thread title. Squinn offered me beer, a lot of people forced their cookies on me, I got a shiny thing from Sapphire, and was informed that the name Stephanie was bad because apparently girls named Stephanie like to break boys' hearts. -nod-

I loved my newbie thread. I wanna make another one. ;_;]

i never made one when i joined. i thought it would make me look desperate. i've learned in my short 16 years that its never a good idea to introduce yourself so openly. just act like you've always been there and you know what you are doing. and dont piss people off. someday hopefully maybe i'll be ck aka turk, if i'm lucky

I didn't even know such a thing exsisted until I saw other people posting their newbie threads. Then I thought I should have one too (I felt left out) so I made one even though I had been here a few days already.

It seems like newbie threads are more for the people posting in them to introduce themselves to the newbies than it is for the newbie to introduce themselves to all the other people.

Cant we just make a large Newcomers Thread, were people can introduce themselves all in the same thread, instead of making lots of new threads, they take up the room and shadow all the important threads, like Tony Blairs Secret affair with Geoge Bush :o

GooeyToast
07-16-2005, 10:40 AM

Which sucks too because most of the newbies are more recognized than I am.

I didn't make one. Frankly I feel the best way to introduce yourself is to just start posting. Half the people that start an introduction thread probably won't stick around long, and if there are too many then who actually cares when another new person decides to introduce themselves?
