I just recently got DW5 and that Rocks too!!!
I decided to start this forum so i could see how many DW fans as there are FF, and so i could see everyones opinions on the game!
I personally in battle think my favorite character in battel is Ling Tong from DW5 because he is the fastest attacker on the game.
Story wise, Guan Yu, because he gets lots of twists in the story!
My favorite Kindom is Shu, because they do lots of things like ally and lots of cool battles!!!

I'm a big Dynasty Warrior fan yet for some reason my town hasn't get DW5 yet, the video stores or walmart. I can't find it. i'm gonna have to order it over the internet.

finally, another eoffer who played dw 5.Cao Pi has the worst name out of all of them. Cao Pi is prononunced Cow Pee.Lu Bu is way easy in Hu Lao gate.ive killed him tgo many yimes.Hes easier at si shui gate,and Zhao yun pawns all, then I pwn every1 including Zhao Yun

I'm more of a Three Kingdoms fan than a Dynasty Warriors fan. But DW is the best 3Kingdoms based series IMO. I still find it hard to get used to the character's "real" names instead of their novel, style names even though I've played since 2 came out and own 3 and 4 and plan to get 5 (I guess it can't be helped if you've read the novel about 50 times xD)
eg: Kongming, Zilong, Xuande, Lord Guan.
Anywho, my favourite character in both the history and the game is Zhou Yu. Poor guy gets pawned by Kongming (argh! Zhuge Liang!). He considered himself a worthy rival of the guy but sadly he didn't even come as close as others (Sima Yi, Jiang Wei, Deng Ai...) and eventually dies because of it. In DW3, he was the best juggler in the game. He was still the best juggler in later games but air combos became less necessary in 4 and 5 (he also lost the advantage of having Fire element since everyone can use any element in 4)


Cao Pi has the worst name out of all of them.

I'm currently reading the RotK book thanks to enjoying the DW games. I own DW4 and 5, which I recently got and yesterday I finally finished the last character's (It was Xiahou Yuan for me) Musou mode.

I've played 2 3 and 4. I had to force myself to finish 4. My brother owns the others. I plan on getting rid of 4 now that I've beaten it once. It has the re-play value of a fighting game. Which to me is like... once? The story doesn't change much with each game. And seriously, how much can Koei suck from the 3-kingdoms era? I think they'd do better to make up their own mythos, and make a game about that. It was fascinating being able to decimate hundreds or thousands of soldiers the first time through one of the games. But to me it gets old quite quickly. Kinda sad. If only they knew how to tell a more compelling story. Or maybe its because I already know most of what's going to happen because of all the other games based on that era, including its prequals. There's just nothing there for me. Sorry. The mindless gameplay can be fun though. Which is why I think they should start from scratch on something of their own making.

i don't like them. one game is repititive enought in it's button mashing way. but to make 4 of them (more than thatnif you count tactics and extreme legends) and then you have kessen 3 which was the same and the omniusha will be the same. oh yeah and that samurai one too.

it's just really dull.

I used to own one called Operation:Winback, it wasnt like DW, it was action and stalth with guns, but it was really HARD!! So they have made there own games up, just not with the DW system of fighting

No, Samurai Warriors is not made up, it is based around the time of Nobunaga Odas reign of Japan, havent you notice that Nobunaga Oda is on a lot of games??
Like Onimusha and Kessen, which is made by Koei, so they are basically coping themselves, unless they copied Onimusha???? :confused:

I haven't played DW5 but I hear it's a bit more historically correct than 3 and 4 were, which would be nice. 4 was horrible in fact in capturing historical accuracy. I refuse to believe that Lu Xun or Jiang Wei were even born before 200 AD let alone fighting in the Yellow Turban Rebellion. Also Sun Jian, for a character in the book that dies in chapter 7 out of 120, gets more attention than he deserves. :cool:

And yes, thankfully that has been fixed. Each character now has their own Musou mode which only features battles that they were in...well...mostly (Because characters like Diao Chan obviously didn't do any fighting). Jiang Wei only fights in battles like Jie Ting and Wu Zhang, and Lu Xun in battles like the battle against Guan Yu at Fan Castle, and Yi Ling. Although as Sun Jian you can avoid the ambush of Huang Zu and Liu Biao and go on to fight in latter battles, but in everyone else's story modes, he kicks the bucket. :p

it is.Not every character does every level, also, If people die, like in a cut scene or something, like Sun Jian and arrows, they STAY DEAD.so its not one ruler per kingdom.

Diao Chan was in one fight, the Battle of Hu Lao Gate, but i think that is the only one she was in :confused:Not in the book, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, on which this is based. All she did was split up Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu with some careful flirting. I don't think Diao Chan even existed in real history.

Yes, i am reading the book now, but i have lots of things to do so i am still on chapter 1 of 150!!! The book is more correct, but on Dynasty Warriors, she plays a part in the battle of Hu Lao Gate. What Koei have done is just changed some things, taken and added bits away really

I don't think she fights at Hu Lao gate in DW5 unless you are playing as her, although she definitely fights there in DW4 regardless. Although I know she fights in the battle between Yuan Shao and Gongsun Zan in DW5 (I forgot the name of the battle now) on the side of Yuan Shao, with Lu Bu.

Ah...Master Cheng. Second fiddle to Zhou Yu, then Lu Su, then Lu Meng, maybe Lu Xun and then died. Was with Sun Jian since the beginning but other than that, he's not really important. Most of the characters in DW are only there because they're famous for one or two battles. (eg. Huang Gai) but Cheng Pu, other than being a general present at a lot of battles didn't really perform any great deeds comparable to guys like the Five Tiger Generals so I guess that's why he ain't there.

Unlikely. He was present for the battle at Tiger Trap Pass (Hu Lao) which was around 200 AD (give or take a few years). The Southland remained a solid force until Sun Quan's death but he was already said to be a veteran of war when Zhou Yu got his victory in 208 AD at Red Cliffs (Chi Bi) so it's unlikely that he would have continued to make any sort of a contribution after the ages of Lu Meng and Lu Xun, the height of Wu's power.

I'd like to use him as a character though. Apparently, he had some sort of serpent spear.

i've only played 3 4 & 5 love five the best its closer to the novel than all the others in my opinion Wu has some of the best officers with Zhou Tai been one of my favourites. Guan Ping is second but only cause he's weapon is so freaken cool.

Xia Pi is like a killing spree level. Gate captains let troops out like 20 at a tie, and my zhao yun can kill most of the regular guys in 1 hit.

To get alot of k.os, it is best to use characters who have a large range and very high attack.

I used Gan Ning like an hour ago, his musou Is cool.Its fun running around with a heavy river master, kills alot of people, my highest kills in one hit is around 43.

Gan Ning's musou is fun but more or less useless, unless you manage to wall a group of enemies in and run with the sword perfectly parallel to the wall.

The most damaging musou is Xu Zhu's. At first glance it's a clearance musou that can only hit an opponent once. But pull off a ST or an SSSST before you unleash to get the opponent into the air and a Xu Zhu with a good length musou can annihilate the tankiest of officers. In DW4, I halved Lu Bu's health in Hu Lao with a Dragon Amulet equipped having only done the four stages before to train.

But overall the best musou is Sima Yi's. *drool*

BTW, thee are some forums who run DW tournaments, where participants compete to get the highest possible score in a stage (not KO's, but finishing score). I've always thought more than 15K was pretty good but those guys... :mad: Insane.

Sima Yi actually isn't that bad of an attacker because his charges make up for it. Zhuge Liang is pretty bad though but that doesn't make him unusable.

Yeah. Zhang Jiao's musou is horrible. The fireballs don't knock the enemies down, but rather cause them to spin around on the spot, which means you're rarely able to hit more than one or two people with each fireball.

Zhuge Liang has a decent musou but compared to Sima Yi, it's got no radius of attack. It's still cool though.

Nu Wa doesn't have enough radius in her attacks to be considered useful. Her speed is her redeeming quality but she doesn't really become effective until you max out her defense. Her musou's kind of useless as well as are her charges. Her death element was pretty unusable as well. It doesn't mean she's not a fun character to use.

The best female character is probably Da Qiao or Sun Shang Xiang. Both suffer from a lack of range but all their attacks and charges clear out enemies on all sides. They're actually some of the best characters in the game.

Zhen Ji is quite horrible at crowd clearance. Even her musou and last charge only have stun properties, not knock down. Her 4th charge, however, is great for laughs (it kicks 'em so effing far! Great for the bridge melee in DW4) She's my favourite female character.

Zhu Rong is pretty much the same as most swordsmen, just a bit slower.

True, characters have disadvantages and advantages but comparing Xiao to Da isn't worth it because Da Qiao is just infinitely times better. But Xiao's more fun to use. Her running attack gets annoying though, especially when you forget about it.
