IN disk 1,Edea is going to rule the city and start the reign or terror.
Why the citizens keep clapping their hands, make fireworks and celebrate?
After Edea got trapped through the gate, the G-soldiers try to control the citizen's action, and Squall jump down kill a G-soldier and drive on the car...
Here is the question I want to ask, aren't those citizen should refuse what Edea going to do?
Those soldier are still under general Caraway(Rinoa's father) control, right?(I guess so..)why they need to fight the citizens...
hmmm do you get what my mind is?x_x

Thats a good point. Either its fear, celebrate her of be decemated by her, a mistake on square although it wouldnt look as dramatic if the croud stood there somber and sad, or they may of thought that with Edea as there ruler they was going to enter a new age and wanted to be a part of it.

Maybe they hate President Deling since we all know he is a dictator before he die.
The soldiers value their life more than loyalty and switched sides of course. They dun want to end up dead as they saw a live example Edea make out of Deling.
But this is just my opinion though.
BTW, do anyone notice this? When Squall drove the car and charge towards the spot where Edea is trapped, he just jumped in where Edea is while there is a gate and the very gate that trapped Edea BLOCKING the way.

He jumped in through the bars. They had gaps big enough for him to jump thru. Not a very good way to trap the sorceress, if she wanted to she could have walked through the gap in the bars too :D
I don't think the sorceress had much to worry about anyway. She blocked that bullet pretty easily.

Did Squall actually kill that soldier ? I just assumed he cleaved clean through his shield and knocked him flat.

Let's say he killed him, much better ^^
And to do with the thread, i believe that they are finally rejoicing that they may have a strong, if not intimidating leader. That or thay are scared, very scared.

Look, the Sorcereress does use doors anyway. Walking through the walls is just so much more fun! The only point of closing the gates is to make her angry and force her to actually stand up and walk to the next bus stop.

I always thought the Sorceress just used mind control on the masses. It makes sense, dontcha think?

Hmm... sometimes people just don't listen and clap*shrug*
Other example: Star Wars - Past three episodes! Have you ever seen the senate disagreeing with something? Just clap and look happy. Same principle here.

The bars weren't intended to keep Edea herself trapped. The idea was not to give her time to escape in the first place. The plan was that the bars would stop the float and that in the second or two following, Irvine would have a clear shot at her skull.

I'm goin` with fear. These people realize her power, and realize they can't really do anything about it right now.

well, she IS a sorceress...mind control?

Doubtful. If she had psychic powers, she never used them except in that moment, and that seems rather farfetched. I'm guessing it was just a mass frenzy kind of thing, where people weren't really thinking anyway. That, and a mix of fear maybe.

The people have been in ruin after the sorceress war. Much like germany after warld war 1. It seems pretty synominous when you think of it. A powerful undesputed leader was needed, and they got one. Thier minds clouded with revenge and self ritousness. The same thing happened with hitler. He was extreme and undesputed (for the most part) and seemed to be what the country needed at the time. The only difference is Edea is way sexier, and will prolly not rot in hell when its all over ;)
The idea there is simply a mass confusion and riot. I don't think the people collectivly had a plan of revolting or anything. Remember when JFK got shot? Police had to deal with a similar situation.

Do you think Irvine hesitated to shoot, because deep down he knew that Edea was Matron?
Sir Bahamut

Maybe. After all, he says he remembered everyone the moment he saw them, so it seems likely he'd remember "Matron" as well. However, if he was able to see through the twisted image of Edea and see "Matron" is another matter.

The people know that with Edea, they will be a powerful nation. They are cheering because they know what kind of dominance she will bring Galbadia.

With that headdress?! Even turned sideways I think she might get stuck. Besides, she's vain enough that I doubt she'd be willing to walk, especially since, her being warned to trouble, there wasn't much that could happen to her. They should have skipped the gate and just shot her (though Irvine would probably have kept whining until it was too late). What I find interesting is that Irvine shoots, and appears to be doing it from the front of the car, since the back is too large to allow a clear shot at the sorceress from. Yet when Squall drives up, the back is facing the direction he is coming from. Either he circled the city (not too far fetched, given how easy it is on foot and the fact that he appeared not to care about the condition of his car at all, though the civilians in the way might have caused problems), or Edea's car somehow turned around in that tiny little space. Interesting, isn't it?
Anyway, I think the people were cheering because they believed that with the sorceress on their side, they would be unstoppable (soldiers in the G-Army say things to that effect later in the game in Deling City if you talk to them). Her actions during her announcement, however, panicked a few people and caused a riot. History shows that soldiers are easy targets for rioting civilians (uniforms really stand out), so when the fighting started, the soldiers had little choice except defend themselves or get their butts kicked. Simple enough, really.

Irvine fired at her down over the top of the back. Notice that she's facing her chair before the bullet comes at her. Irvine's just that good of a shot.
