For a serious topic, can someone explain to me why people do this? And all mods do is say, "no advertising?"

Am I just one for the obvious or is this a little rediculous?

Some boards allow advertising, and few, if any, people actually read the FAQ. New people who haven't seen a closed thread will assume it's okay.

It's not like it's some gigantic offense if it's done out of naivete of the rules. You can only really get in serious trouble if it's ginormous cross-forum and mass PM advertising.

But I mean, out of all sites, it HAS to be eyesonff.com. Thats a bit stupid imo

What's the point in advertising the site you're on on the site you're on? ;_; cause I mean, even though we're on the forums it still is the same site?

Ok. Let me explain. Hawkeye was joking, and to make a point of n00bs making pointless advertisement threads.

They get bored, and think they are the first to do it.

Besides avertising it much more effevtive in your sig, then as a thread, cause a thread will eventually die, your sig however will be there in every one of your posts,

What they should do is delete the internet so nobody can advertise and the world will be at peace.

Listen to Old Manus' words of wisdom.

'Cause it looks messy advertising something in a thread when you can do it your own signature.

Generally advertisement occurs because it's such a large site that people think (and rightly so) that they stand a good chance of getting more members for whatever site it is they're advertising if they do it here. I personally think advertising on a site is extremely rude, which means I have to hold myself in check to not lambast advertisers with extreme predjudice.

Of course, I do get some small, sadistic pleasure from clicking the "close" button :D
