This is a fake, yes. It isn't Tifa and Barret at all. This was something someone photoshopped like two years ago. Even without the slave gear making it obvious, this guy's complexion is closer to Rude's than it is to Barret's, and Tifa doesn't an ear full of earrings.

I think that was part of a prank by a well-known Final Fantasy site a couple of years ago, in the wake of FFX-2 being announced. They claimed that FFVII-2 was in production, and that Tifa would be the main character. That picture which you posted was part of a fake magazine article the site posted, but apparently it originally came from a French art book.

Its a very pretty picture though. I'd like to see the whole one. It looks very much like Luis Royo's work.

EDIT: Woo... I know my artist lol... I just put Luis Royo in google and flipped it to search for images. Guess what the first image is? :D

I saw that picture years ago...what in the world would even begin to give you the idea that was Tifa and Barret, other than a misnamed file that's oh so common with pictures on the internet? o__O

That's from the great FFVII-2 April Fools joke (http://www.cybe-rpg.com/~kywhod/final_fantasy_7-2_02.jpg), released a few years ago.

Then there was this one (http://www.cybe-rpg.com/~kywhod/final_fantasy_7-2_01.jpg), which fooled a few people for a while even though it's obviously just a bunch of photos of action figures xD
