What could the plot of FFVIII-2 be?

Well, if Square Enix was to create FFVIII-2, what would you like to have as the main theme?

I've though of a couple of things, but feel free to add some more ideas to it.

I'd personally love to have another Laguna game:)

Hmm... I think it'd be quite interesting playing Laguna a little more, especially during his journey to Esthar. There are still some things that are a little unclear, like his appearence at the Shumi Village. Might be a great fun playing him again.

I'm not sure if I want a sequel, even though I love the game and the characters and the world, but still... it could be ffx-2 all over again :/
But if any of those, then it would be Laguna's story in-depth mixed with the Sorceress War (well it was about the same time so it'd make sense). Also I'd probably like to see a glimpse of the heroes of the original game as children. :P

It would be cool to see if Square-Enix could expand and Laguna and the whole Sorceress War. It seems do-able, and it would make for a solid RPG for sure. It's be for the best if it didn't touch on the events of FFVIII at all. It's better off left alone, for the most part.

I'd play any sequel, to be honest, no matter the setting and all that jazz.

Every time I play through the game, there are a lot of cases where I'll think about how I'd have a whole lot more fun if I was controlling Laguna and company instead of Squall. It'd probably be better if the Sorceress War played a big part in the story, but I imagine a couple of those options could be lumped together into one game.

Laguna and co would be neat. Although you know what the outcome of the game would be - Laguna would seal Adel, and become president of Esthar.

I would prefer to see a different story, with different characters, maybe a little ways ahead in time of FFVIII's setting, with Squall and co and Laguna and co appearing as non-playable characters. All with the junction system, of course :D .

This story ended just fine, and to have a sequel, it would have to be another entirely different sorceress or other bad guy. IMO. But it would be really cool.

final fantasy VII and VIII are just the best games ever created. but if you are gonna make a new one plz dont trade in the story for technology.. by that i mean that you can put the amazing graphics in the game but if the story sucks you have nothing.. further for the plot i think that if youre just gonna do laguna and his trip youre using the easy way out.. in a good FF game you have to have twists and turns in the story and if you know the end from FF8 then well its just lame.. iam not saying you have to have a whole diff story but you have to have new things.. anyway i dun care if they wrecked up the story id prob buy it anyway

Rinoa: Liberation of Timber from a Galbadian Warlord which have vile plans of his own. Zell and Selphie will accompany her as per the contract.

Squall: A cult formed by a group of unknown sorceress is spreading confusions and disorder in the world. People are being mind posioned and join the cult. Squall,Quistis and Irvine were deloyed to stop the cult.

Seifer: Seifer challenge Squall that he can put an end to the cult faster than the SeeD along with Fujin and Rajin as his party members.

or maybe if you are in for the Hyne/Yu Yevon theory, then FF X is your FF VIII-2. :D

Btw I don't belive his theories 100% :) I keep an open mind- and do enjoy hearing them. I think this is what pisses me of the most. I never really said yup he is right. I helped him along a little - thats all. I do like the way he thought of there being a bigger meaning to the orphanage, and kids growing up together - thats all.

We all DO have open heads about this sort of thing. All these theories (and other similar theories) have been debated here until kicked to death.

The thing is, any idiot can see that his theories are baseless, and assumed from thin air. That's why I dismissed them so quickly. He says things like "well maybe Caraway killed Julia and buried her under D-District prison" (or something like that). Then he proceeds to either: (i)base the rest of the theory off that, or (ii)uses it to fill in the many holes in his so called "theoreis".

Its not about being closed minded. I am very open minded, and positive. I just happen to be analytical, therefore am quick to go through what he's saying, and come to a conclusion in that it is either believable or not. And these theories, are in NO way implied by the game, and are baseless and silly. Then, I must say, I do have LITTLE patience when people making such moronic statements, and then try to preach it like its the FF bible.

i dont think a final fantasy 8 sequel would be a good idea. the ending of final fantasy 8 was really good (in my opinion), and it left everything off perfectly. what would be cool would be if they just re-did final fantasy 8's FMVS and made them less speckly looking, and maybe the in-game graphics to something a little bit more technologically advanced.

Well, I think that if they make another FF8, it would be a good idea to go into the past rather than in the future. I.e. Laguna's adventures or Seifers life, as it has been suggested above.

Really, Ultimecia's return or anymore happenings would be a pain, cause the ending was really good. I wouldn't really like a remake of FF8, just because the graphics of the old one are still pretty good and there's no real need to redo it.

turns out Squall finds out about Rinoa and Siefer when he sees them at the secret room/balcony place behind the training center. gets angry and calls rinoa out. siefer butts in and attacks squall, they fight. rinoa likes the fact that they're fighting over her. then quistis finds them fighting and calls out rinoa for not stopping them. rinoas been acting wierd for a few days, easily angered, but they just think she's having her period. well her evil sorceressness is actually kicking in, then uses some sorceress powers to throw quistis across the room. realizing what she's done, rinoa flees and they don't ever see her again. squall realizes that she's now the new evil sorceress bent on destruction so he has to go on a journey to kill her, and he doesn't really care because she's an open legged...erm.. open hearted.. girl. gathers the original ffviii hero party to go on a journey.

and there's you're intro. i personally think it would turn out horribly funny... or just plain horrible. either way, i would play it. and it'd be better than ff x-2, because everything is better than ff x-2.

It would actually be ironic that the little *cough* hoe *cough* Rinoa puts them through all that trouble of helping the Forest Owls and constantly needing to be saved, only for her to turn evil, and for Squall and co to have to kiiiillllll her. What fun.

Dr. Odine would be up to no good, and of course you'd get to kill him too, as a boss......he'd be helping Rinoa, by building a crazier time machine, and creating crazier Elastoids who have 500,000hp.

And you'd constantly run into Biggs and Wedge in places like Deling, Dollet, and Esthar - both are now 2 male prostitutes/Zell's Sausage Dog Vendors - who are in love and have to get by.

Oh....and Zell - the proud founder and owner of "Zell's Sausage Dogs" stands all around the world, would be over weight, due to his time away from being a SeeD and eating too many hotdogs. Then Squall gets all pi$$ed off, and whips him back into shape.

And yes, ANYTHING is better than FF X-2. :p

Anyway, I think that the most likely plot for a sequel (rather than a prequel), would follow directly from the original and it would consist of trying to correct the temporal instability that Squall's actions caused. Namely, the paradox of SeeD.

Since Edea got the idea from Squall, and Squall got the idea from Edea, it forms a paradox. The information has to come from somewhere. That being the case, there is a definite possibility that a number of unstable dimensions came into being due to this oversight. The one they seemed to be in at the end, with no Ulti and a "happily ever after" ending, but probably also one in which the idea never existed in the first place, so that there was nothing to stop Ulti, and she rules that timestream. Now, with all the dimensions and the various space/time anomalies trying to settle, the two worlds are competing for existance. But both are unstable, due to the paradoxical nature of their existance. So the heroes must not only find a way to stop the worlds from tearing each other to pieces, but also a way to correct the instability inherent in their own dimension's existance.

Yeah, heroes can do some pretty stupid things sometimes.

I could totally see Rinoa whoring around behind Squall's back. Ugh, she so doesn't deserve him. She doesn't want a boyfriend, she wants a lapdog. One that she can boss around. Uh-uh, Squall+Rinoa was doomed from the beginning. She shoulda stayed with Seifer. And what was it that they did that summer?
