romance isn't dead?

Do you believe in romance and are you an active exponent of it?

I do believe in romance, and YES, I am whatever the hell you just said.

exponent

n 1: a person who pleads for a cause or propounds an idea [syn: advocate, advocator, proponent] 2: someone who expounds and interprets or explains 3: a mathematical notation indicating the number of times a quantity is multiplied by itself [syn: power, index]

The first meaning in this case.

Or, in simple terms, you're a romance thing doing guy.

Yeah, I believe in it. I like romantic things and all, and I find couples cute too, but PDA is a bit annoying.

Lindy
07-30-2005, 08:15 PM
Xander and I have PDA's all the time, we do it in the train station while waiting for the train home.

What I dislike are the other kind of PDA, Public Displays of Affliction, ugly people kissing.

xD

Some PDA is cute, but when it gets to a certain point (or if scary or old people are doing it) I don't blame people to feel like saying "Get a room!"

I believe in romance, but I can't stand people being romantic, or being romantic myself. It gives me the willies.

PDA is okay, I suppose, as long as I'm not forced to watch it.

I don't think romance is dead, but I'm not very romantic... well, how romantic can a guy be if his favourite TV programme is Big Cat Diary?

I'm all kinds of backwards about romance. I only like the traditional romantic gestures occasionally, but the quirky, weird and sometimes unwholesome romance get's me all flustered.

Romance is easy. All you need is flowers, a nice (Crappy) resteraunt and jibberjabber stuff and make the girl believe it's french...

Simple as that!!

Romance is dying?? ;-; My boyfriend's always been the romantic type, not over the top, but in a cute way.

Xander

Aww. Iloveyou.

And yes PDA is good! Some people can take it far. For example, groping too much or something in full view of everyone..some things are best kept for private. But kissing and hugging is great. Being in love is great, romance is great, why not make the most of it everywhere? Kissing and hugging would never hurt anyone else, and it's fairly easy to ignore if people don't like it.

Romance could really mean anything these days though, I think it just depends what you want it to mean. It could be those old traditional ways, or it could just be some kinky sex. Personally to me, it's just showing love in nice ways, all the time. And I can happily say my relationship has 100% romance. And I wouldn't change a thing.

*Sigh* i am a hopeless romantic. my boyfriend and i are both learning to speak french, and we write eachother little letters in french and.... i like to say "Embrasse moi! je suis francais!" "kiss me! i'm french"... but it's a lie

Lindy

I don't get why you have to speak in French to be romantic, Xander and I are perfectly romantic in English and trying to be so in another language would just confuse matters.

How to start an inteligent debate:
Lesson One.
Don't quote maximo park.

Lindy

Lesson Two : Don't let gokufusionss1842 post.

gokufusionss1
07-31-2005, 02:26 PM
Lesson Three:
Rinse and repeat.

It just annoys me when people quote nothing bands, well it annoys me when people quote full stop actually. Be original people.

Lindy
07-31-2005, 02:30 PM
Except that they're more than a nothing band? One that have been touted by the music scene since their first major appearance on the NME Awards tour last year, gained favour with a top 20 single "Apply Some Pressure", and then followed up with the success of "Graffitti" , "Going Missing" and the album "A Certain Trigger" released in early May this year.

Whoops there, try and get some background to what you say before you say it.

gokufusionss1

Whoops you shouldn't assume my ignorance of the matter just because of my flipancy towards it. I'm well aware of maximo park and there relative successes, i actualy think there a good band but that is a nothing quote with about as much depth behind it as ringos "hard days night" and the bands impact relative to the whole music scene is quite insignificant.
But we've strayed off topic lets stop.

I think it would put me off if you DID speak french. xD

Ugh, don't get why people think that's romantic...

And gokufusionss1, don't post if you're not going to post about what this thread asks.

This is an internet message board, it has about as much depth as a shallow grave, so why not go for something fun instead of something bland?

Would you prefer I just made a topic called "What do you think of romance?"

theundeadhero

And you two could like, debate about the thread name in PMs, plzthx? ^^

Lindy
07-31-2005, 02:50 PM
I think it's hair, I always get hair and horses mixed up.

THAT is why French is not romantic, you can get hair and horses so easily mixed up.

"Oh my beautiful darling, I love to run my hands through your horses"

And my last two questions were rhetorical, so "debate" over.
