Kweena for me, too.
I pronounce the various Qu names thus:
Kweena
Kwaan
Kwaaluh

That last one is how I pronounce Quale's name. In the case of both Brahne and Quale, I sound the final 'e' like it would be in a Germanic language. Some people prefer to make it a silent, English-style 'e'.

That was my take on it too. But I'm pretty sure that's what they're trying to say with "Kweena"

I can understand people doing the quin-a thing, but I would think proper english would dictate that another "n" be present before the addition of a vowel if pronounced that way. "Quinna" Like Dr Quinn Medicine Woman? Except with an "a" at the end... Same with that "Viv-e" Like... Vivvy? I'm with the "Veevee" people. Though I can understand how linguistics and knowlege in other languages and such would tend to alter your pronunciation. So "Keena" makes sense too. But I'm an American-English bum ^_^

Karl
08-09-2005, 03:13 AM
that was quite explanitory :D

MagusBoy
08-09-2005, 03:45 AM

Same with that "Viv-e" Like... Vivvy? I'm with the "Veevee" people. I'm a "Vivvy" guy; that's how I always pronounced his name. "Veevee" is perfectly logical, though.

I must just be weird.

I, too, pronounce Quina as Keena. I'm not hispanic, but I speak a fair amount of Spanish. Maybe that explains it.

Vivi is Vee Vee.

Zidane is Zih-Dain.

Eiko is Eye-koh.

That's the only differences I have with the person above me, I think.

Hey, how about other ones like Baku? I say Bah-koo, but I guess it could be Back-oo or Bake-oo. And Qu, as in Qu's Marsh? I'm a retard, I fluctuate between Kyoo and Koo. Ok, last one. Iifa tree. If-uh? Eef-uh?

I think too much about this stuff.

i thought it was the Lifa tree, for some reason... i always felt like it should have been called that at least, cuz you can pronounce it as the
Life-uh tree.
i think it would make sense because it gives life to monsters (with the mist from the roots)

FF games use a lot of German names, and Eiko would be pronounced Eye-Koh in German. Also, ee-koh sounds dumb. It might be AY-koh, though. Maybe.
