Once upon a time, there was an alien named Jenova. It lived on the other side of the galaxy, living a normal life.Until a race resembling humans (Not the Cetra, mind you!) came & destryoed it's planet.Jenova then got all pissed off,& started going to other planets, kiling other races.& then you have the story of the cetra.

The End.

The descendants of Shinra (from FFX) traveled the stars and came across Jenova, an evil monstroid. She tried to have sex with their ship so she could infect the crew with her blood-virus and they sent her packing. Unfortunately, she would later end up on the same planet which they had eventually landed upon. On this planet, they had met the Cetra, who were a diligent and itinerant race. Like the Pilgrims and Indians, an initial companionship was formed and before long, some interracial relationships developed. When Jenova arrived, the "pilgrims" fled in fear 'cause their technology was gone and they left the Cetra to battle and subdue it. Unfortunately, Jenova caused a gaping wound in the planet and thus the Cetra sacrificed themselves to help it heal, but they were not enough.

The Cetra actually tried to fight off Jenova -- not J-E-N-O-V-A, mind you, because that's the instrumental music piece -- but they had no luck and the "virus" spread across the Planet, turning the Ancients into the monsters in FFVII. The few surviving managed to seal Jenova, and the Lifestream, not the Cetra, tried to heal the so-called wound that Jenova's crash-landing caused.

Jenova was originally a tiny lil alien called PuPu (ffviii) but nobody gave pupu elixers so he morphed into Jenova (limit break type of thing) and time/space travelled to the world of ffvii, reaking havoc to anybody who didn't even bother offering an elixer to the ugly alien. jenova pupu then realized that he needed a puppet to do most of the work for him, so he chose sephiroth, the strongest of the strongest at the time. now everybody started giving elixers to the magic pots down in north cave, causing jenova pupu to become very enraged and tells sephiroth to summon meteor and come up with some half baked theory on why he's casting meteor, instead of just the real reason: he needs elixers. and there ya go.

hooray for tifas boobage.

Have People noticed that cloud only calls Jeno a her once.
only sephiroth is classing Jeno as a she throughout the whole game.
the other times shes called it.
also... when you are battling some of the Jenova forms.... notice a beard growing under her chin.

maybey the creators were conflicting over making her a guy or a girl... so the made her a she-male.

the end.

Jenova doesn't really have a gender. Sephiroth and all of the clones refer to her as a "Mother" as it is her way of corrupting their minds and making them do their bidding.

Oddly enough, Iflana calls Jenova a "he".

Jenova doesn't really have a gender. Sephiroth refer to her as "Mother"
because it is technically Sephiroth's "mother" as its cells are what made him what he is.

Lucrecia is technically Sephiroth's mother, as she carried him in her womb. However, it is true that Jenova made Sephiroth what he is. Jenova is not Sephiroth's actual mother, but Sephiroth truly thinks that it is. We see parts of Jenova throughout the game (i.e. in the Shin-Ra building) and we see that Jenova is really just a conglomeration of cells and has no real gender. Jenova boss battles do tend to take a more feminine form, but by no means would I consider any of them "female".
