zidane's soul blade

anyone know about zidane's soul blade? it has never hit for me, it says theif's swords and i tried it at least 20 times each with a double ended sword and a dagger and it always misses, is this gonna end the same way my steiner's thunder slash thread ended?

ive got it to hit before. dont know when or where, but it had worked earlier in the game when i had the ogre equipped. its not a decent skill either, so i wouldnt waste your time on it. it might end up like your thunder strike, but i dont know why i would.

It has 100% accuracy IF the monster is vulnerable to the sword's status effect.

Also note that it only works for thief swords, not thief daggers. I'd also like to add that it's an awesome skill.

i remember i only used it during when i had the ogre. it caused darkness or something and it really helped me against Gizamaluke. even tho he was easy as hell without it lol

One weapon can have a Status power(Masamune has countdown Death) or not (Orichalcol)
When you use Zidane's Soul Blade ,he will inflict weapon's status power to the enemy CERTAINLY(if the enemy can't block that Status SURELY).

For example,use Soul Blade with "Masamune" on any non-boss enemy will give that monster a death after 10 second
But id you use Soul Blade with Orichalcol,nothing happen

It blinds an enemy. Doesn't always workthough

Make sure that the weapon you are using has a status effect to inflict, because four of Zidane's weapons do not.

Come on.
Just equip Zidane with a weapon that has status power and try out Soul Blade in your random battle(even some boss battle) before you concluse.

For example
Use that skill when equiping "Ultima Weapon"(Mini Status),you will transform all your monster into powerless baby fiends !
Use with the Petrifying Blade(I don't rememver the name) and your enemy will transform into a stone statue immediately(but you won't receive experience)
And with the wonderful Masamune,you can give a certain death to your enemy.
This must be the most helpful skill there is in FF IX

yep. and i was almost sure ultima weapon caused stop or slow. and crossblades, it doesnt only cause darkness. thats ONLY if you have an ogre equipped.

Hm...Are there more than one version of FFIX?In my FFIX,Ultima Weapon has Mini status,that's for sure.
And what is the Crossblades you say about,haven't heard of it!IS it Zidane's weapon?

That was it! I only remembered using soulblade after going to the synthesis shop in Lindblum and now I know why!

Soul Blade was good for Zidane's non-magic fighting style, but it becomes less and less useful as the game progresses. Want a good attack for Zidane? I got two words:

Grand Lethal. :cool:

This works during trance but you need the appropriate equipment for it. I dealt 9999 to Necron for every turn I had in trance, and it killed him pretty quick! (It does use up about 60MP per go, so use in moderation, mind…)

everyone focus's on grand lethal, but for me, at lvl 50 i was doin max damage with stellar circle 9 and i kept usin it for ozma, necron, and w/e else i got my trance against and it always was max damage

Soul Blade cats the status you have on your weapon, on your enemy, e.g. Mage Masher (status silence on "Add Status") therefore you cast silence on your enemy, it is not particurlarly good though, status magic always seemed pretty obselete for me, afterall it isnt like you can cast silence on major magic based bosses or darkness on attack based bosses is it?

after knowing what it did, i used it on gizamaluke and it really helped with him having darkness, especially cuz it took sooooooo long for steal to work on the ice staff
