I just did long division at work! By hand! I was calculating average times. For example, if you spent 221 hours and 30 minutes on the phone making 1565 calls, then you spent an average of 8 minutes and 45 seconds on the phone per call.
When's the last time you did something manually that technology has made obsolete?

I always check stuff in the Britannica instead of going to Wikipedia.

I did everyone of my practice math finals without my graphics calculator. Just to make sure I knew the basics, then used the calculator when I was forced to.

I suppose it burns more calories, unless you are laying right in front of the tv.

sophmore algebra. all of it nowadays ca be plugged into a system and viola, you have your answer in fractions of a second wrather than over time.

I can do square roots by hand.

i choose to shift gears instead of owning an automatic does that count?
Just a couple days ago I had to do some stoichiometric calculations concerning a 49% concentrate HF etch reaction with 77% SiO2 glass to determine the amount of HF solution necessary to etch X microns of glass away and how long that would take. Oh yeah, without a calculator or anything.

Eh, I'm pretty good with my TI-89, so I tend to stick with it. I'm going to get real friendly with it this semester. -_-

My last high school math class, Advance Math and Intro to Calc, we rarely needed a calculator, so does that count? Wait I did the scoring in Auction 45 (a card game) manually ^_^. Does that count. You need to know how to add and substract by 5's...

Do any of ya now of to do Tan, Sin, and Cosin by hand per chance. I've only used a calc to do them.
sin 30 = 1/2
sin 45 = 1/root 2
sin 60 = root 3 / 2
cos 30/45/60 - sin reversed
tan 30/45/60 - sin/cos
The essential ones offhand.
And sin 36.8 = 3/5, sin 53.2 = 4/5

yeah in Trig and 3-Space we had to learn them. It is like in chem, after a while you know the molar mass of water off by heart. Same with the molar mass of other elements...

Dammit. I thought this thread was about Worms World Party when i saw the title! Holy Handgrenades  . heh. Long division......I hate maths. The only thing i was good at was Trig. Other than that, i stunk at maths
I only have Worms Armageddon, but I'm sure the other Worms games are as badass.
Two years ago, when I was at a football game with the band, I calculated the number of square inches that were in a football field. I forgot the number, but it was smaller than I expected.
eestlinc

did you include the endzones?
Yes, I did. I have recalculated it just for those who would like to know, and I used a calculator this time. There are 7,776,000 square inches in a football field, including the endzones. If you get a different number than I, then you are wrong, because I checked my answer four times before typing this, on paper and on the calculator.
