Has it got parts of the old story, with the new one

Does FF7AC go through all the old story like aeris snuffin it, and cloud joining avalanche, then go on to the new thing, or is it just the new thing???

I'm pretty sure its just the new thing, although some trailer shots indicate that there may be some flashbacks to the original game.
