I avoided using it, until I found out that getting 99 Earth Mallets the legitimate way (dropped by Gigas) would be too time consuming. Took me hours and hours to get 14 of them. With W-item I was able to get 85 more in a few minutes. :greenie:

I use W-item only to copy items that aren't easily available.

I use it for Elixirs so I can give them to the Magic Pots in the Nothern Crater for the lovely AP.

There's a glitch?

Aidan
08-11-2005, 11:38 PM
yeah. goes something like this (ill most likely skip a step or two):
-use w-item skill
-use an item on you or your party, etc.
-second item, use item you wish to dupe, it will bring up target cursor for who you wish to use it on, you cancel the window, and gain 1 more of that item
-repeat.
im most likely wrong. lost my VII game, so i cant figure out how it went again.

Just make sure you practice on an item that's expendable, like potions. That way if you screw up before you have it figured out you don't lose anything valuable.

i love the w-item glitch, i mostly used it for megalixers and elixers and x potions n stuff like that. i never actually used w-item for it's original purpose. why use 2 elixers at once when you can use 1 megalixer that you can get 99 more of!?

Wait there is a "witem glitch"? I have never heard of it. Can someone please expand on this glitch for I have no idea what it is?

Choose first item and select target. Choose second item, cancel, choose again, repeat. The first item selected will be cloned. I used it to get 99 elixers to level up materia against magic urns.

witem = W-item, in case you were trying to be some kind of spelling nazi.

Hell yeah, I use it to dublicate Elixirs, and it still takes forever to build Materia in this swamp area of the Northern Crater.

Imagine what itīd be like if you had to STEAL them from rare Master Tonberries all the time!

i used the w-item glitch to duplicate the 1/35 soldiers and combined them with the masamune replica to create sephiroth who joined my party soon afterwards.

The fact that you can only duplicate items usable in battle tells you he is lying. YOU CAN DUPLICATE SLYKIS GREENS!!!!

I only used it to dupe Elixers which I used on Magic Pots to get 3 of each Master Materia.

The writer of the Chocobo Breeding FAQ thought that it wasn't possible to duplicate Slykis Greens, they also sell for quite a bit.

Do you just duplicate 1 per turn? Or can you choose again, cancel, choose again, cancel, choose again, cancel, choose again, cancel, choose again, cancel...etc, and replicate multiple items?

yeah it goes up 1 at a time. its a pain but it doesn't take long. damn.... and here i was trying to buy all those Slykis Greens...... thanks for telling me!

Left path, one of the rooms where you can go underwater.

1000 AP. Bring Elixirs.

if memory serves........their are enemies in the same place as the magic pots which resemble the movers from ffv. in ffv these things give immense ab points and although i only fought one set, im sure they gave really good exp and ap in ff7 too. they dont require any elixers

O.o never played ffv all the way... got really bored of it lol

i think the elixer is easier anyway. especially with the w-item glitch.

i never use cheats like this. beat the game, and train the way youre supposed to.

is it a matter of "Honor"? cuz it's just a game, i don't need to be honored or to honor it.

I know what you mean, but I thought they were called Movers in FFVII too.

As for using W-Item, sure it's cheating, but it's very helpful. And if some people don't want to use it, that's fine too.

what?! CHEATING!?! not meee.... :shifty:
it was an accident... uhh yeahhh... i was like.. .GONNA use an elixer.. and pointed at my character... but then cancelled because i wasn't sure... and i did it again cuz i wasn't sure still... then i took it back.. and that lasted for awhile and i was all like, HEY! i have 99 elixers! then decided that my party member didn't need the elixer so i just killed the enemy. that happened a couple of times... yea more than a couple... but then decided to use those elixers to my advantage... it wasn't cheating, it was just an accident...

BG-57
08-22-2005, 03:36 AM
A very fortunate accident indeed. ;)

Let me explain the difference between my definitions of cheating and cheap.

Cheating is doing something the game makers didn't intend for you to be able to do. The W-Item glich and the item duplication glitch in Tactics are good examples.

Cheap is doing something that the game makers intended to be possible but which makes it easy to win. Using Holy Wars for invincibility in FFVIII or KoTR in FFVII is very, very cheap...but not cheating.

G SpOtZ
08-22-2005, 03:40 AM
what if you have to work really really really hard to get something that makes the game easier.

BG-57
08-22-2005, 03:43 AM
Merely cheap. Most glitchs are easy to use, but the items that make the game easy usually require some work to get. Lots of Triple Triad for Holy Wars or lots of chocobo breeding to get KoTR.

its isnt about 'honer' or anything like that, its about how much fun the game actually is if u play it the way it was ment to be played. beating a game without cheats is just more fun, and more of a challenge.

i think cheating makes the game fun a lot of times ^_^ but only fun-to-use cheats.
