I'm all for FFVIII. My favorite RPG ever---of course, that doesn't mean anything to you, because this is all a matter of opinion. FFVII is excellent, though; either way you'll end up happy.

FFVII wins easy as far as I'm concerned. My fave game of all time. :) VIII is good too, but VII is just better.

FF7 is more consistently liked then FF8 (although I like 8) so if I was suggesting a game for someone to buy I would say 7. As 8 frequently though not always seems to be usually considered good, great or terrible with no point to it . FF7 seems to have these opinions best game ever (the fanboy equivalent of great), really good, good or FF7 fanboys suck!!! Excluding the anti-FF7 fanboy people (usually pro-FF6, they usually like FF7 but hate the fanboys and their opinion is lost or maybe they don't like it you can't tell) seem to like FF7 far more consistently. (I love to ramble ;) ). But FF8 is my favorite.

And for the records, not everyone who thinks that FFVI is better than FFVII actually hate FFVII. I don't hate FFVII, I think it's a great game. What I hate are the narrow-minded people who think it's the greatest game in the series and that all the others that were released before or after FFVII suck. Most of the time, those people have only played FFVII and not even any of the other titles. :rolleyes2

That's because in VIII you're supposed to use your sky-high junctioned stats to kick ass.

I prefer VII, but IX owns both.
