View Full Version : Mutal inclusiveness~

I was thinking today about how my dad and I had a discussion a long time ago about the things in life that are mutually inclusive.

I'm sure everyone's familiar with mutually exclusive, where two things never come into contact with each other in any context, like intelligence and newbies ;), or existence as an odd number and existence as an even number.

This is the obvious reciprocal-- Two things that *always* come into contact in every context.

They're rather hard to think of.

The best I've gotten so far was "Christmastime and the month of December" because, as it currently stands, christmas tends to happen every 25th of december, and every month of december has a 25th day, which happens to be Christmas. I am assuming of course, that people will continue to celebrate christmas, and that if we time traveled back a few thousands of years, that we would celebrate Christmas if we realized that it was infact the 25th of December xD

Other ideas that were brought up:
Mass and gravity,
Space and Time,
People and Stereotypes,

"you can't have a pigeon without it being sexy."
"But is there such a thing as a sexy non-pigeon?"
"no. pigeons are pretty much the only sexy things on the planet."
Music and a rhythm,
BST and Milo the Monkey,
Birth and Life,
Arguments and Opinions,
Evilness and math,
Buddhism and the Buddha,
Respirating and Life,
Dead people and cemetaries,
hats and food.

How many of the above can you refute? (I know most of them can be, but I want so see if you had the same explanations for them xD)

Add your own, also.

You can express emotion outside of music though.

Ah, true. I guess I should say Music and Emotion as music is always emotional.

Nah. I rarely feel any emotion when listening to music. Unless bored is an emotion...?

Due to the nature of mutual inclusivism, Emotion and Music and Music and Emotion is the same thing xD

And while it doesn't seem likely, there *may* be fans of Grace Jones that aren't chris.
Maybe she has a goldfish.

I'm bad at this. xD I think you listed about everything I could think of already.

She's basically asking for synonyms, right?
Music and Melody
Pride and Self-Esteem
Assumption and Expectation

Oh, that makes it bit easier.

Cirrocumulus and Clouds. :)

There are clouds that aren't cirrocumulus, aren't there? xD Like. . stratus. or something.

and for Music and Melody, I would consider drumlines to make music, but they don't have much in the way of melody, being battery percussion without tones. But I'm probably one of the few that would do that xD

I don't think it's synonyms. I think it's two things that can't exist in any other context other than with each other, if that makes sense.

Ah, I'm wrong again. xD And I was so sure that I finally got one.

I'm sure love and hate can be debated into it. Or also out of it, depending on your deffinitions and perspectives. But considering the ups and downs of life, I'll stick with it as an answer. They don't always have to be extreme

me and penguins.

I think you're being to harsh with the rules. the first cannot be without the second and still be. that's my view of it. "penguins and me" would be different because penguins can be without me and still be.

But denffe, then it wouldn't be mutually inclusive.

YOU ARE MISSING THE MUTUAL PART OF THIS.

It's supposed to be hard. That's why I posted it xD

Wouldn't the negation/reciprocal of a mutually exclusive pair be a pair whose elements come into contact at least once? :p

Counting the number of times is a gray zone. Never and always are the recipricals
