View Full Version : Longest Ride...

I've never been on a ride longer than like, five hours before, but on September 2nd I will ride a Greyhound bus from Shawnee, OK to Los Angeles, CA which will take a total of...36 hours. o__o Of course they'll be stops and layovers and such (which is why it's going to take so long), but geez...I'm kinda scared of being on a ride that long.

So what's the longest car/bus/plane ride you've ever been on?

Hmm. I'm not sure, but the three that stand out most are

1) Senior High Band Trip 2004-- from school, to Fort Smith to Fayetteville to Kansas City. That one was so incrediably horrible up to Fayetteville. But after that, we settled in a bit of a pattern. Luckily I wasn't stuck sitting next to someone I don't like-- (actually tisha came up to me and asked me to sit with her so she didn't sit with someone she would want to kill xD) We probably left around 9:30AM and we got to where we stayed the night, a bit outside of KC around 4:00 I think. (with a stop in fayetteville for lunch, and another one in Joplin for bathrooms xD) this was probably about six hours or so.

2) Space Camp 2004-- This started at INSANELY EARLY IN THE MORNING. We were at school at like, 6:30 AM and drove to Hector in a nice SUV, then from Hector to somewhere else in Arkansas, (I seriously do not remember where this was. It was east of here though) and got on a bus. I lucked out and didn't have a seat partner, so I was all set with my big huge pillow:D

From here, we stopped around Cave City to get more people and continued across into Memphis and stopped in Huntsville, Alabama. I remember vaguely that this was almost exactly a 12 hour drive. (plus lunches and stuff)

3) Louisiana Vacation 2005-- For some unearthly reason, the person I stayed with in Louisiana got the idea that we should DRIVE HOME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT. So we left around 11PM and got home at 7AM. I didn't go to sleep at all xD But I was still bright and cheery enough to drive the last 70 miles to home. eight hours, but it felt the longest.

I don't remember how long of a planeride it is from Dallas/Ft. Worth to Puerto Rico, but it's the longest I've been on. We left from little rock at sunrise and the little plane got to St. Croix at sunset xD but the carrides definitely pwn this.

I've traveled from Utah to Montana and Arizona. I'm not sure exactly how long it took us, I'm guessing about 9 hours of travel time for both trips... errr, maybe more. I'm not that good with time.

Longest car journey was probably when I went in the Sahara desert and saw where they filmed that farm in Star Wars and that bit in Indiana Jones when he is on a tank. It was fun.

Longest plane journey, that time I went to Malaysia.

Longest bus ride, that time I went to Alton Towers.

Longest boat ride, that time I went to the end of the world.

Longest train ride, is every year when I go to Hogwarts, I live in Scotland, the school is in the Highlands yet the make me go get a train in London. Wizards are retarded.

Mine is 10 hours anyways, when I went to San Francisco from Southern California. It ould have been shorter, but the driver took the longer, more scenic route so yeah.

I took a Greyhound bus from Allentown, PA to New York City to Atlanta once, and some bad stuff happened and I ended up missing my switchover in NYC and had to take a local bus from DC to Atlanta and ended up being on the bus for about 30 hours straight and I was sad. But it was an experience.

I'm driving with my friend from Atlanta to Seattle in two weeks. We're spreading it over four days. It's about 2800 miles.

From where in Ohio to where in Michigan? That seems like a really long drive.

I went to Florida from Ohio. We started at about 9:00PM one night to sometime in the afternoon the next day, so it was quite a drive. It was in an absolutely cramped van, too, where I could barely move my legs. That sucked.

If it's all the way over there, then it makes a lot more sense. I live pretty close to Dayton and I know for sure that it's not that long of a trip to the border.

Fort Worth, Texas to Orlando, Florida on a bus. About 24 hours with stops. It was not a fun time, especially because Jeff didn't go and I was pretty much by myself with a bunch of band kids.

Moved across the US from Baltimore, MD to Albuquerque, NM in one long road trip. It took us (girlfriend's family, her, and I), in two vehicles, a grand total of thirty-five hours, fifty-two minutes, and ten seconds. We stopped for food, gas, and restroom breaks. It was insane and I'm not doing it again.

Northern Illinois (almost Wisconsin) to Orlando, Florida took twenty-something hours, without stopping. And back.

Rockford, Illinois to Athens, Georgia took almost thirty hours.

Wisconsin to Iraq. Very short. Iraq to Wisconsin. Very long.

And the longest I've ever driven has been 16 hours straight, from semi-central Georgia to exact-central Wisconsin, a few months ago.
