View Full Version : Do I take this game too seriously?

So, now I´m about to enter the Floating Continent, and since I really wanna make this a perfect game, I´m right now trying to get all equipment in this formula: weapons should be bought so that ALL characters can use ANY weapon in pairs, in ANY party formation.
For example, I´ve got four Thief Knives, since Locke (2) and Shadow (2) can both use them, 20 Mithril Knives, since ten chars (each with double, 10 x 2 = 20) can use them, and so on.
Get my point?

The same goes for all kind of armour and relics: they should be bought so that every char has an own "copy", like 11 Gaia Gear (11 characters can use them) and so on, and so on.
Alright?

Since some equipment disappears in the World of Ruins, I spent an hour of this night to find all those missable things.
I wrote them all down on paper on Microsoft Works, and right now the paper´s lying right beside me; I wrote in size 14, and it filled two columns of missable stuff!
Here´s the list I wrote, for those who are interested:

Air Lancet x 8
Boomerang x 2
Blossom x 2
Darts x 2
Dirk x 20
Epee x 6
Fire Rod x 6
Flail x 10
Forged x 2
Full Moon x 2
Guardian x 2
Hardened x 1
Hawk Eye x 2
Ice Rod x 6
Kaiser x 2
Kodachi x 2
Kotetsu x 2
Mithril Blade x 8
Mithril Claw x 2
Mithril Knife x 20
Mithril Pike x 4
Mithril Rod x 6
Morning Star x 10
Poison Claw x 2
Poison Rod x 6
Regal Cutlass x 6
Stout Spear x 4
Thief Knife x 4
Thunder Rod x 6
Trident x 4

Bandana x 6
Bard´s Hat x 13
Buckler x 13
Cotton Robe x 4
Gaia Gear x 11
Gold Armour x 6
Gold Helmet x 5
Gold Shield x 6
Green Beret x 13
Hair Band x 3
Head Band x 6
Heavy Shield x 6
Iron Amour x 6
Iron Helmet x 7
Kung Fu Suit x 4
Magus Hat x 6
Mithril Mail x 6
Mithril Shield x 13
Mithril Vest x 13
Mystery Veil x 3
Ninja Gear x 6
Plumed Hat x 13
Silk Robe x 6
Tiara x 3
Tiger Mask x 2
White Dress x 3

BTW, note that not ALL equipment is necessarily missable, I wrote down everything
that you could buy in WOB, so as to get it done.

Do you think I´m exaggerating?
Or are you also doing like this, at times?

Oh, I thought that this thread was going to be about how overrated this game is and that people misinterpret the obviously light hearted story line as serious…

Pity

Wow, that is a lot of item gathering. I've never done that, but if I need a new way to play the game some time I might try it out.

Also, if you're collecting everything, make sure to steal all of the Genji Gloves that you need from the Dragons on the Floating Continent. Sometimes you'll steal a Potion, and other times a Genji Glove.

Sometimes you'll steal a Potion, and other times a Genji Glove.Actually, you can still get those Genji Gloves in WOR; both are missable in different ways, though - you can Metamorph them from Samurai in Cyan´s Dream or from Retainer in Kefka´s Tower, and this of course means you have got the ESPER Ragnarok, not the sword.

So, it seems that I´ll either have to postpone choosing the Ragnarok OR postpone Cyan´s Dream.
I guess I´ll have to try stealing them from the Floating Continent, though... :rolleyes2

EXTRA! EXTRA! HINT! HINT! :D :D :D
In order to easily gain Gil, keep fighting in the desert next to Albrook.
You´ll win about 3000 Gil for each fight, and the battles ain´t hard; use AutoCrossbow on the Bugs and Revivify on the FossilFang.

You mean apart from being the best weapon in the game? Nothing really...

Well, 6000> HP = 9999 DMG EVERY attack!
Even with the Offering + Genji Glove Combo!
Seriously, dude, it beats Illumina any day, at least from this technical view!

Try it out against the Tyranosaurs!
They die a lot, you know!

well it never really delt a lot of damage for me cuz my guys were all really weak and low leveled when i beat the game. so i guess it WASNT the "best weapon in the game" for me, now was it?

 Where'd you get the money to do that!? I'm in the same place as you are on my new file and I hardy have enough money to pay for four of my characters equipment!

I'm a collector also, it's a bad habit. I don't ever collect to the point where everyone can have it on at the same time, but in every RPG I play I try to collect at least 1 of every item, and I never sell off old useless items.

I general, it's the best weapon, obviously if you play the game at a low level, things will be different. Although under normal circumstances, Atma Weapon is in fact the best in the game.

Just fight in the desert next to Albrook for a while; I tell you, you earn money FAST there!
I think it took me about an hour to get money for all the armour I listed.

you can get off the floating continent. my sister said she tried everything.... where do you get off?

Necronopticous

You can jump off the floating continent right near the end, you can't possibly miss it.

However, you can get off just about anywhere, as long as you're careful not to get arrested.

Right. You come down the stairs from one of the trasporter things and can't avoid being asked if you want to go back or not, shorty after the save point. I usually go back, then back through a couple times with different people in my party, to hlp gain experience and such. Which is really kind of pointless, because their levels when I get them back depend on my level at that time. All you have to do is level up Celes, really, but it helps to have others learn magic.

And take Necro's advice. He's secretly Pee Wee Herman.

On another notice it is perfectly attainable to get Genji gloves in the WoR without resorting to Metamorph.Just make sure you kill at least one Dragon up the floating continent and you're set. Then enjoy the abuse that is Veldt (i can't remember how many Behemoth Suits i have) ;)

However, once I got to the ThiefKnives in Zozo, I got fed up with the crap. :D

I know I can get off, I've beaten the game twice, I just don't feel like it. The continent is one of my least favorite parts of the game and I REALLY don't want to have to go through it twice.

the continent is my all time least favourite place. only place that comes close is the magitek factory because everytime my characters are weak and get slaughtered.

anyway, i always *think* about getting 99 of every *single* item on all of the FFs but i have never eveen started except for one time when i read my gil wrong and tried to buy 99 pheonix downs on ff1
