why are so many people banned from eoeo and eotw? i came to realize this when i saw cloud no. 9, a regular poster in both forums, banned too. hell, i know why was i banned and i think i know why ed is banned too (it was hilarious, btw). so, are we really getting THAT naughty or are the mods setting the bar too low *looks at top banner leeza*?

We've seen a lot of debates degrade into flame wars, meaning we have to crack down even harder. Zero tolerance means zero tolerance.

"Flame wars" may have been bad wording on my part, but threads in there tend to end up just people flinging personal insults. We try and pre-empt that.

It has been starting to get a little lax in there and members were beginning to take advantage of this fact.
Well good job Cid's Knights (and I mean that nonsarcastically).
But yeah, there's alot of people banned from EoEO at the moment...more than I've ever seen actually. It's pretty funny when you look in General Chat threads and like three post in a row by three different people have "No Eyes on Each Other for Me" under the username. :D

I dunno, I like trying to help where I can;
when someone needs to get somting serious out there it does
seem to be a good chanel. I don't claim to know how to deal with everything, and none of us do know - so hating EoEo out of ignorace seems kinda off to me.
If I come across a serious problem, or and isssue I would like taken seriously, I may use EoEo. Since I don't flame, I would expect the same curousy in return. I am just glad that the knights are enforcing the rule; as I think it is a veluable one.
Some times meat puppets spam can be insightful though ;)

Me, in a PM to another person who was asking about similar things:
When you get EoEO banned, you lose a lot of privileges. That's the price you pay for getting banned. It's not a permanent thing, so you'll survive. I don't see why you're complaining about losing things that are nothing but priviliges, as you're the one that broke the rules. You'll be okay, though, it's not the end of the world.

Well if you think about it... you get banned for flaming someone in a zero tolerance area - you shouldn't have the right to send em usernotes flaming them even more as far as others can see. Bob's respons seems very logical.

I am sure the ban was for a reason; if not it wouldnt be there... less your a product of banfest :D Seriously for anyone who did not show respect, should not have respect. No idea what/if there are anyother EoEo-bannible actions besides flaming/spam; but the rule seems to be a good one that punishes, and prevents imidiate violations. It seems if they wanted to be extra cautious to avoid immidiate (caused by temper etc) repeats - they would ban PM's as well :)

It is used purely as a deterrent for breaking the rules. See BoB's post for more details.
There have been a lot more Eoeo bans because people seem to be forgetting the much sticter atmosphere that we would like to convey in those forums. It is not really that hard to not spam or insult people, is it?

You all seem to be forgetting that <i>zero tolerance</i> includes spam and jokes with regards to the thread, as well as flames, because they can be just as damaging at times. These are not tolerated in those forums and you will receive a ban for it.

I was banned for a single post that was barely even flaming, the person who banned me even agreed with what I'd said, but then it'd be double-standards if I hadn't been banned and the person I was rather fairly directing it had, so it's a worthy sacrifice.
Heck, I don't even look at or post in those forums most of the time anyway.

I think the amount of instigators in EoTW and EoEo have increased too. Or at least the few instigators have been worst. Some threads are peaceful in EoTW, then people start up arguments. :(

If you continue to act up in the Eyes on forums you are also setting yourself up for a permanent ban. I would say any person who gets a permanent eoeo ban has one more chance left and then they are gone for good from the entire board.
So now did you hide the forums from people who are banned or does that mean we've got perma-bans now?

Face it, buddy. Communism sucks. It and freedom, prosperity, and more are mutually exclusive. You probably didn't get banned on commenting negatively about something (well, depending on who banned you, and what kind of mood they were in), because the entire forum is negative comments on subjects. It's (usually) when those negative comments are directed at people (alive or dead, deserving or undeserving) that the mods take action. In theory, anyway -- anybody else paying attention would have spotted dozens of offenses that were left unpunished, and some that were unfairly punished. But I guess recently, when everybody's getting banned, they're "cracking down" more, so it MIGHT be a little more balanced. Wouldn't take much, though.

This ban though was well worth it and I knew it was coming.
