the island?

in the middle of the sea somewhere.. on the first world.. theres an island with a shrine thingy on it.. but.. its a single square, you cant dalk at this place.. or land on it.. with the chocobo or air ship..

anyone know what its for?

You'll get access to it later in the game (much later). It's a dungeon that you'll have to go through.
