It's not extra popular, it's just that people can actually come out of the closet now without fear. In the 80s, gay people were blamed for AIDs and everyone hated them. Now, being gay is tolerated much more, which is nice. :)

If that was directed at me in anyway, then I assure you that I have nothing against anyone's sexual preference. I was saying that being gay is not popular, due to the amount of hatred they receive on a daily basis, but it is slowly, but surely, becoming more acceptable to common society.

I don't have a problem with gay guys hitting on me (well, I do have a problem with that) -- hell, it's happened twice more -- I just don't want them hitting on me. If they do, fine, their mistake, I'm not gay, move on. I think most guys would take about the same amount of offense to a guy hitting on them as most girls would to a guy they're not interested in hitting on them, or shouting cat calls.

Well it is true on the rare occassion, and people like to run with it.
