Yeah, a friend had it. Found my house. Pretty cool.

I never looked in Iraq, maybe I can find where I lived for a year.

EDIT: Some of the sattelite images are a little old. I saw some stuff around the airport that looked familiar, places we used to go and such, even some stuff we'd see on missions, but nothing's there in terms of Coalition presence.

And it's cool, you can tell what was pictured in the summer and was was pictured in the fall, or sometimes winter even.

EDIT AGAIN: I can see my house from here!

Sorry.

It seems like scans of pictures that are quite old. I looked over my home and the pool that's supposed to be in the backyard is not there. ):

It's a rather cool program though. Try Area 51. ^__^;;

Google Earth is fun! My dad and I spent a couple hours with it the other day. He gave me a tour of where he grew up in Costa Mesa and Spain, and we marked where our families live and I showed him where my wedding will be. It was fun. :)

Yeah, when my dad looked up my apartment we got confused 'cause the apartments next door were an empty field. :o They're a couple years old.

I am in the business of global\geographic information system (GIS), you could say. Now, this... this is very nice. The rasters (the actual photographs of the terrian) are of very low quality, but then again, it's a home program. It cannot weigh hundreds of terra-bytes, nor can it provide civilians with too much information (i.e, the exact appearance of cities, army bases), as countries go to great lengths to prevent un-wanted people from knowing what they really look like - on the inside. What are spy-sattelites for, anyway?

But, this is still awesome. I'd use this in geography lessons. No longer will American kids not be able to find Iraq, Bosnia or even Canada on the map. :)

I dunno why, but I have been having a fun time zooming down at LA

Once then make this as non-still imagry, this stuff will literally be the /xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gifz

You'll have to wait about 7-10 years for that. :)

Think of the amount of satellites they would need to have a constant live feed of the the world. How big an area do they cover at a time anyway?

To be honest all I can see happening in the near future would be an image that updated every time a satellite passed over it. Even then that would cost far to much for it to be a free service.

On another note, on the old version of Google earth (the one I have on this computer) Area 51 is in the sight seeing section, however in the newer version (I have on the other computer) Area 51 seems to be missing.

A lot of the images are years old, too. Try to find some of the military camps in Iraq or Afghanistan. ... I didn't look in Afghanistan, though.

It doesn't have clear graphics, only problem, more zoom in options and search capabilities and It'll be so god damn great.

They have a smaller version of that for America on some site. I think Yahoo. It was super creepy, and old, since my pool wasn't put in. Really cool though. :)
