So when are you mods gonna prune members?? I have forumd out that if you go to the advance member list search section if you type post's over than '0' and under '1' you'll see 69 pages of member's who never posted. When are you people gonna prune?? Might aswell start. This can slow EoFF's server or something down. Unless you wanna pay more :joey:. So point is I found a way to help you mods prune member's..

Hey, they prune members on their own time. No need to tell them when. Who knows, maybe some of the 0-posters just recently registered and haven't started posting. I bet they wouldn't like it if their account was pruned and had to re-register.

Well as RSL said once if they have an account for 6 months and never posted than their done for. Bye bye pruned members!!

Also, they don't like it when members tell them to do something as menial as this. They prune whenever they feel like it, no need to "remind" them.

Actually, they shouldn't slow the server down. Server problems used to be caused moreso by an excess of posts rather than members, which is why we used to have to do a lot of pruning. However, most of our bandwidth/space problems have gone away, so we don't have to worry a whole lot about pruning.

We don't, or shouldn't, prune members any more, but thanks for your concern.

We have better ways to find prune-worthy members from our admin CP rather than the lousy search function :D

Yup. And members with actual posts have been pruned in the past, as you'll see in the early threads of the General Archive, for example.

The only valid reason we have to prune members is to free up some usernames which they've taken. But there's no urgency there as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah you did. Here. I can't find the link but it was that very first thread about pruning. When there was 10,000 member's some mod said it's time to prune as you told me that..

We would only prune accounts that have 0 posts and have been registered for several months, if we even pruned them at all.

Thank you and good night.

Let me explain this a little differently.

The reason I brought up pruned members in that 10,000 member thread was to point out that we've actually had many, many more registered members than that. A bunch of them were pruned.

You asked why and I explained that sometimes we prune members who have 0 posts and have been registered for a long time. This is not the same as saying "any account with 0 posts after six months is automatically gone." And as other staffers have explained before me, it's not something we are really that worried about any more. We have had instances of members who actually have posts getting pruned on accident. We don't want that to happen again.

And if we did feel it was time for a member prune, we would do it. When crashNUMBERS feels it is time for a member prune, well, too bad, I guess.

I respect that and all but I never said to prune member's. I asked when it's gonna happen and brought up an idea. I never said you have to..
