Would anyone be able to describe FF online for me? I've played EQ, Star wars Galaxies and am now playing World of warcraft. WoW is ok, but not much to hold you after a few months and sometimes it has the worst lag spikes I've seen in 5 years of MMO's. I was considering dropping WoW for FF XI but was wondering how it is.

FFXI=very time consuming.
WoW=easy and for casual gamers.
The thing is seeing as FFXI is more time consuming it does give you the benifet of feeling good about yourself when you accomplish something. It takes skill as well. Knowing what to do, when to level, when to do time consuming and hard quests, when to raise your rank. It's a lot harder to get money in FFXI than in WoW. Leveling in FFXI is rather difficult and sometimes annoying. Plus level 10, you have to be depended on being in a party always. Soloing 20 plus is unlikely you will find someone doing that, even at lvl 14 it's hard. In other words this game takes up a lot of your time, but you do make good friends. Linkshells in the game keep you going as well. Raising your skill is a lot harder because now it takes skill of when to do it, what time, how the moon effects it, blah...The community in FFXI is much better I think than in WoW.
I was a warrior and it takes sometime to get a party after lvl 35. You could be waiting for a party for more than 3+ hours at a time. Lets say you get a party, but it disbands, then you have to wait all over again.
But basically FFXi is more time consuming, but more you feel good when you accomplish something hard. WoW, is just easy.....so easy compared to FFXI...so, so easy....it's not funny....oh and the level cap for FFXI is 75...and that takes sometime to get to. I hope that helped, somewhat, maybe?

Yes, I think a game should be time spent enjoying it, not waiting for groups and waiting to do what it is you want :D

I believe people are going through this the wrong way. Theres always something to do and waiting for parties is not the right way to go through things. Many a time i would Look for a Group however i wont want to wait long. Make your own party and strike it out yourself, you cant sit there and wait and be at the mercy of someone else starting a group, i take command and make my party go through as much as i can. If its not possible then i tried, however if you dont want to make a party either too lazy or dont know what to do(ask your LS / friends for help if you need it) then you have only yourself to blame. I rarely wait for a long time to get invited because i invite them. Its not the surefire way to work things, however it IS the way to speed things up considerably. Its how my WAR and MNK lvl up faster than most people.
If a party is not made you can do other things, Ballista can increase your exp by a little and its fun. You cant do ballista yet? You can farm and make money instead or do quests. You can get a license at level 30 with rank 3 and parties under 30 usually have little wait time.
With the new NPC it promotes 2-3 man parties with NPCs as well for skill up and some minor exp gain. To make the best of your time, plan ahead like talk things out in the LS forum, plan accordingly with close friends and you can easily do things with reletive ease.
Leveling is not my main concern however so i might look at things another way, i see many people complain and i can see somewhat what people are saying, but i have yet to experience much of it. Maybe its my outlook however.

Yeah and then oyu have that elitest gorup that says it makes you feel good and say that its a giving that SE even lets us earn gil as easy as we do. I was thinking WTF? when someone said that. Mainly because if more work is added more hassles is added. To enhance reality in it. Well it loses its element as a game. It consumes your real life. You end up literally paying someone to work.

You made hardly any sense whatsoever. -_-; My suggestion: slow down and think about what you're going to type and don't get excited while typing it.

Yeah I heard that there was not many player customisable skins. If I am gonna have to look at a character, I want to look unique. I am close to buying this game, but I would just like to see more customizable options.
