Yo what's up with that we can't put links in our posts, but I see the administrator do it all the time, like in the Katrina thread, the challenge your sexuality thread and a lot of others. You just don't want me or Ashley to do it! :mad2: :mad2: :mad2: I still see advertising to other sites like in my Resident Evil Twoooo thread.

Um I think you're talking about people posting links to articles. Which is allowed, as it's A) not their site, and therefor B) its not advertising. Its news.

No like when I posted a link to my friend Mike's profile at a differeny site and those sites that we post are not ours, we are not members there.

If the sites have nothing to do with the topic then it is not allowed. Please put your 'friend's' profile link in your signature. Also, posting links to other forums is not allowed in general, but it depends on the situation.

That thread wasn't closed because of the link, but for different reasons that Behold the Void explained when it was closed. Besides, there's a difference between linking to a useful or informative article in an existing thread and basing an entire thread on the link.

As said, links to other people's sites are not permitted and I have removed a few for you and Ashley where you have conveniently linked to your friend's site for someone to go find something...like the pics for a signature. That's a no because you are now basically advertising your friend's site and asking people to go there. Discusssing an article and linking to sites that back up your discussion claim is totally different and I wouldn't think that it should be too difficult to differentiate between these two types of links.

Okay so no linking to videogame forums I got it. Y'all must be afraid of your competitors.

It's got nothing to do with that, Nick. If one person advertises a site then another will advertise a site and then all we will be have is people advertising their own and their friends site. I think it's pretty self evident why this rule is in place.

We do not say that you cannot advertise. We only say that you cannot advertise in your posts and start threads on advertising. If you wish to advertise, you are more than welcome to do so in your sig.

If it comes up as something that is applicable in a topic, such as say, a discussion on what forums people go to daily on the internet, I would say it would be allowed.

It is the *mindless* advertising that has NO other purpose and that is advertising for the SHEER SAKE OF ADVERTISING that we dont' like.

Umm.... That's because that's not advertising. When you post a link then that's not advertisement. But if it's a link to yuor site than that's advertisement. Or any threads saying "Join this forum!!" thats idiots continuosly keep on doing. That's also advertising..

You're advertising!! BAN HEEM!!

Situation A:
A member of this site wants to know a decent site to upload and host pictures. Links are not a necessary form of information, but it helps speed up the process.
Deemed: All right

Situation B:
A member of this site has recently become involved in an RPG on another site and is asking around this site for people interested in joining. The request itself is not allowed, let alone including a link. It's different if you're contacting someone you know via PM about something you know they'd interested in. Don't ad to the forums though.
Deemed: Undeniably wrong

The site you link to may have a secret porn link somewhere in there, and, of course, we can't have this.
