HELP PLEASE!

Okay so i just started FFV for the first time and umm i cant for the life of me figure out how to goet throught the blasted Ship graveyard thing... am i missing something i know you are sposed to raise a ship but i have NO IDEA how... any pointers!?!?

Check the chests. There is one chest with a switch in it I believe. Also, you can jump across almost any space where there is only one tile of water, so try that out. It will jump automatically for you if you move against the water.
