We often hear or get asked what C.D we are listening too at the moment or which disc currently occupies our players, but I dear Forum pals am from a simpler time, I like books. (You know those things with words and letters on the pages)

So in good faith I ask (and with out insulting your inteligence like earlier): What book are you currently reading.

I am reading David Malouf's: Johnno and am re-reading Tolstoy's: Anna Karenina.

FMA.

Zen And The Art Of Motor Cycle Maintenance, by Robert M. Pirsig

It's a strange book about a man who has become a new personality after shock treatment and is discovering who he was before... Nice and philosophical.

Right now, I'm going through Heinlein's books. He's got a couple dozen... my most recent was "Friday", I'll be heading to the library later for another... I don't know what all's left there, though.

I just finished re-reading Bear v. Shark by Chris Bachelder yesterday, which is a great book if you like satire (but also understand that it's quite post modern, so if that's not your cuppa tea you might not like it). Alls I know is that I love it. I'm still struggling through Seymour: An Introduction by JD Salinger (the novella, which is what I refer to it as, comes in a paired set with Raise High the Roofbeam, Carpenters which is actually just a short story). It's been hard for me because it's Salinger's straight character book. If you've ever read The Catcher in the Rye, or really anything else by Salinger, then you know that his works are all about characters, and what happens to them (ie: the plot) is almost a byproduct of that. However, most of his other works have some form of rising action, and so far Seymour: An Introduction seems to be simply a discussion of who Seymour Glass was to those who knew him best. And Salinger is so verbose anyway (like I have room to talk xD) that I get distracted easily. But I promise I'll get it done.

After I finally finish it, I'll read The Dubliners by James Joyce, but that will probably be a quick day read. I'm looking forward to it IF MY SISTER EVER GIVES IT BACK.

Other than that, I might go buy the third book in Stephen King's The Dark Tower series, or I might finally read The Restaurant at the End of the Universe or The Encyclopedia of Celtic Wisdom, or maybe just random stuff by Yeats. I like Yeats. But if anyone has any suggestions for me, I'd love to hear them.

Seymour is pretty funny. I like Franny and Zooey and Nine Stories a little more, though. And Dubliners is pretty cool too. Some of the stories are great.

Right now I'm reading V. by Thomas Pynchon. Good stuff. Image:

'Batman: Hush', vol 1-2. For something with more dialogue than just word balloons though, I'm reading 'The Second World War' by John Keegan. I'll probably be delving back into the Pratchett books again fairly soon as well.

I'm reading Marilyn Manson's autobiography and I must say it is demented stuff he's revealing about his relatives. So far his upbringing is just a big messy mess of stupid vapid girls who make for good storytelling.

Not for kids, obviously.

Interesting stuff.

I just started The Lovely Bones today. I don't think I've ever cried so much so fast. xD I feel horrible.

I'm starting The Crucible soon though. :(

Bah, stole my thread idea. ;)

Anyway, I'm currently reading The Scarlet Letter and The Crucible for school. I just finished The Catcher in the Rye, and am now going to start re-reading The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe to tide me over until the movie comes out.

I'm currently in the middle of Shaman's Crossing, by Robin Hobb. It's the first in her new trilogy. So far it's not quite as orgasmically wonderful as her previous work, but it certainly beats most of what's on the fantasy market.
