My copy of Final Fantasy V (The anthologies verision) just stopped working the other day. I had it in my playstation and I turned on my playstation that morning and it worked just fine. I turned it off and about an hour later I turned it back on to play again and it wouldn't load. Since then I've tried playing it numerous times and it DOES NOT load up. I tried cleaning it, but to no avail. All I can say is 'what the hell?'

This happened years ago with another copy of FF anthologies, except that time it was FF6. FF6 just stopped working one day for no reason, so years later I bought another copy of anthologies. Now FFV is doing the exact same thing as VI. Is there anything I can do?

Did you try it on different playstations, and are you sure its not the disc?

If the cotton and rubbing alcohol method isnt working for you (which I'm sure you've already tried) it might be time to trade in that game for another copy. There isnt much you can do with stratched disks on your own

The same thing happened to me. I was saving, but right when I was saving, my older cousin decided to be an ass and open the lid as I was saving, thus destroying the file. Fortunately, it was FFV and I wasn't too far into it. It wasn't as bad as the time that I deleted my FFVII file right when I got to Sephiroth..I never got to beat him. Could this be the problem, nik0tine?

Wow, if the discs are fine I have few more questions for ya.

Was your playstion warm, or in a hotter area (like on carpaet or cramed somewhere with little aire movement.

Is your playstation's drive clean? You have to keep the laser's lens clean as well.

Is your playstation doing anything esle funny?

Thats about all i got :)

In fact, even though I had the game for a while, I had not taken it out of it's case until recently.

Twilight Paladin - No that is no tthe problem. My save file works just fine (or at least i assume it does, I can't acces it) The game won't load at all.

1) Yes, it was in a small box like area under my tv, however the front and back were not closed off.

2) I don't know if it's clean or not, but all of my other games work fine.

3) my playstation is not doing anything else that is funny.

Wehn I got final fantasy VIII the day it came out, I had to call the support line because the game would crash during the lunar cry fmv. The fix was calling em up and sending my copy in for a new one. :) I was told that sometimes you get a defect where certain files were not printed correctly on the CD label.

That leads me to the question, does it do it at one point on the game? REpeatedly, and act as thought the disk was scrathced? If yes call the number in the book, and pray to your god that some one picks up :)

The heat doesn't sound like too much of an issue atm, as all other games are working. But just always let you computers (Game systems, DVD players, etc) have decent room for intake and exhaust of air. Granted these systems don't seem to get extremly hot, the rais tempature (Especially in the tray, or where ever the cd spins.) This poses no immediate threat, but in older systems. Especially those that are not cleaned internally by takeing em apart and blast em with canned air, or if your a nazi you can take a special brush to the boards. Like your computer, the dust inside insulated heat exerted from the boards. It lies equivilant to wearing a giant winter jacket while running a mile. Moral of that extremley oversized and ginormus paragraph, keep your cool.

Also make sure that the laser lens is clean. IS this a psx or ps2? I am just pretty convinced that the problem would be defective disk or PS hardware issue if the disk is indeed flawless.

My playstation did that with FFIX and wouldn't let me get off of Cleyra. Rather than call in, just buy a new one. Or download a ROM, I don't think system matters as long as you own the game.

I turn on my playstation and once it gets to the playstation logo it just sits there and does nothing. Sometimes it doesnt even get that far.
