A couple of nights ago, I was really bored so I put a tomato in the microwave and nuked it for a minute to see what would happen. Here are my results:

Twenty seconds: The tomato was beginning to split.
Forty seconds: The tomato burst open, spraying its juicy goodness all over the microwave door.
One minute: The beeper went off, and I opened the door to find that there was a delicious smell (Kinda like pizza) and the tomato had sort of dissolved and was drowning in a pool of its own juice.

I did it again, only I nuked the tomato for forty seconds, but the results were pretty much the same. Then my brother squealed on me, and my dad yelled about the mess and made me clear it up, while I giggled like an idiot because I found the whole thing hilarious.

A couple of days after that, I put a bit of spring onion in the microwave for forty seconds, and when it had finished, there was a horrible oniony smell that made me feel sick, and the onion itself was all floppy and dehydrated.

Has anyone else done something like that before? What did you put in? What happened? And if anyone says their pets, I'll smoosh them. :mad2: :D

You know, if you cut up bits of a grape, and put it on tin-foil, and microwave it, you get plasma? True. I'd give you a link, but I don't have one... Oh, but don't try it- after a few minutes it makes the microwave explode.

Something about candle wax. Maybe put a match in candle wax and light it and then turn the microwave on. It brings you plasma!

I went to this party last year, for these two dudes birthday, and at some point in the night when I was a bit drunk (well, extremely, but meh.), we took one of the guys barbie sweets that someone got him, poured oxtail soup in the box, some cornflakes, and then put it in the microwave and forgot about it. That was fun. :D

Will it? I've never seen one burst into flames, but I've seen the little crack things splinter through it, which makes it look kinda cool, I suppose.

Yeah, I don't think it literally explodes, but you do get some nice sparks going across the surface, and it's a quick way and easy way of getting rid of any increminating evidence you may have on a CD.

It probably just depends on how long you leave it in. I've only seen it on TV, too, but they only put it in for a few seconds - just enough to ruin the CD. But yeah, it's really dangerous.

When me and my sister were little we were playing store or something and we had those like, ID bracelets that parents used to put on their kids, and we put them in the microwave (they're made of stainless steel by the way) and it made them spark and bounce around and stuff, then we got scared and my sister took them out.

Grapes explode in the microwave, as dose anything with a high water content. i pout a sock in the microwave once, it stunk really bad, but my sock was warm and dry, I accidentay put pasta in the microwave....in an ice cream container, we had to live at my nans for a week to wait for the fumes to clear.

Very bad plan. Human bones have hollow spots, and a tendancy to explode under rapid heating. So you'd need re-enforcement, which you can't do with a microwave heater. Sorry guys.

No, it will only cause air pockets to explode. You'll break chunks that shoot around. Not nearly enough damage to eradicate the bone. For that, I recommend a wood-chipper. If it can turn a tree into sawdust, it should be able to break down a skeleton. Of course, DNA testing being what it is, that is not a perfect solution.

what if the Microwave was Oven sized and could generate more heat in less time?

udsuna
09-18-2005, 12:45 AM
Best you could hope for is still less than half destroyed. You'd never get rid of the teeth with it. The rib cage, the leg and arm bones, and the spinal column would be most easily destroyed. But teeth are solid, except for hollow spots which are open, anyways. The skull bones are the same. I guess the jaw could be busted.

But there's no way to get ANY kind of microwave generation device to the point where it could hit the 2500 degrees for 2 hours that cremation requires. Besides, you couldn't shield the microwave bulbs with anything strong enough to block the flying bone fragments. Not without that material either blocking or reacting badly to the microwaves themselves.

no time to read replies so i dunno if anyone said this but i put peepes in the microwave ALL THE TIME!!! and i mean all the time, they are everywhere, but no 1 eats em, so in they go and inflate is what they do, then i started stapling a paper cup upside down to a paper plate and putting a peep underneath and thats always fun to watch, especially with the sparks

good way to fill the hours of the day :D
