How do you protect yourself out in the street, the car, and at home?
I always carry a knife on me just in case I have to cut someone, in the car all I have are the locks, it is the same for the house. I should get a gun, it's not like I have a child to bring it to school. Even if I did, I wouldn't think he would do that, I never thought of the idea when I was one and if he did, he would remember that day for the rest of his life, because of the snap of my belt.

It is currently illegal to beat your children XD God bless the government >_> Also, I'm going to pretend for a second we don't live in a movie. Having a gun around doesn't suddenly make everything safe. Nor a knife. Either there comes a time when you can't get to it, or worse still, the bad guys get it off of you or get to it first. Or you freak and use it on someone/something harmless and cause more problems.

sounds kinda stupid to me unluss of course u have had something happen to u in the past or live in a really bad neighborhood that u think u need it, but usually guns only lead to trouble, same with knives but i collect those so im not gonna say anything more about knives

In order to be able to protect yourself you must be able to enhance your insight of your opponents attack. You must know when it's the right and wrong times to defend yourself correctly. I would only use a weapon incase it was in a bad area.

But to make sure your good enough to defend yourself you might want to take some lessons on HOW to before you get all "Ooo I have a weapon!" It won't do any good. Reflexes, anticipation, and calmness will lead you to be able to defend yourself.

After like maybe 2-5 classes of maybe a type of martial arts you will be able to defend yourself proficient enough incase a couple of thieves come up and try to hurt you. Hope this has helped.

Never resort to violence unless only last option.

The only part of me where there is more muscle then fat is my legs, so I quess I'd have to resort to kicking. However, I just become friends or ignore people. I'm pretty proud of my self for having never been in a fight.

Akido, kick boxing, Jeet-Kun-Do, decent physical condition, far above average reaction time (I'm told I could make a good fighter pilot), and a grim willingness to cripple or kill anyone who so much as lays a hand on me with violent intent.

i got myself a [6 inch] Hibben Thrower knife from the Arizona Asian Festival for $6 a few years ago. sweet deal for a Hibben Thrower! it's about half the normal price. the largest size is like 9 and a half inches. Hibben Throwers have a hole at the end of the blade, perhaps for tying a rope to. i thought it to be some kind of ninja knife.

i don't have it no more. i lent it to my cousin b/c i accidentally carried my red purse with me (which had the knife in it), when i went to Calif. we went to Yellowstone National Park and i thought we were going by plane, so i let her look after it. as far as i can say for the knife, it was confiscated from her.

i have three more throwing knives at home. i don't take them anywhere.

I've always maintained it should be legal for everyone to carry around a full daisho. If everyone had two swords strapped to their belt at all times and knew how to draw them at insane speeds, I'm sure violent crimes would diminish significantly.

Seriously though, I don't carry anything on my person. I have considered carrying a knife, but really, I am not sure I want to engage someone in a knife fight, if I am overpowered the likelihood of my getting killed increases dramatically.

replace "classes" with "years," and you will be proficient enough to defend yourself against multiple opponents without getting severely injured.

carrying weapons is a bad idea. those who are not experts in their use are relieved of their weapons far too easily only to have those same weapons used against them. ex. pull a gun on assailant and stick it in assailant's face. Assailant performs the very easy disarming technique, steps several paces back and fires two shots into one, first in the stomach to incapacitate, then in the head to kill.

One should not need more weapons than those one was born with. Every part of the human body is a weapon, either of distraction or of striking.

I never even think about protecting myself like carrying around a knife - I'd get arrested for it over here. The streets are really safe here in Australia, except more dangerous at night in certain places of course.

luckly i live in an area that dosn't force me to carry any sort of weapon. although in the UK it is illegal to carry such weapons even if you plan to use them as self defence.
i have always thought that the US must seem such a scary place if people think that carrying a gun around with them will make them safe.....

I have knives and guns (rifles and shotguns), but they're only used for hunting.

Unless you're living in da hood, its certainly not a good idea to carry around weapons.

Of course, in some places, its your gawd givin' raht to carry a guhn!!! yee haw!!!! Git 'em, Cooter!!!

nick isn't carrying a knife on the streets illegal? it certainly is here.

but personall if i was allowed to protect myself like an idiot with a knife or gun i would like a belt of c4 and a few grenades to carry around legally on the streets.

"honest guv it's just for self defence" cos that's the same excuse muggers will use when they have knifes.

I'm in the same situation, if I carried around a knife I'd probably get into a LOT of trouble, unless it's my handy-dandy box cutter *raises beloved box cutter into the air and watches it sparkle* well there is a blade in it

If i was troubled I would just start a really big anime style 1 on 20 brawl and come out unharmed!

In reality I'd probably just run/walk away, or yell "FIRE!" apparently it's the best way to get attention. But there have been times when I have travelled about the city by myself and even caught trains and not have been the least bit threatened, and I'm only 15. So there really isn't any need to carry a knife or gun around. Not that either of them are actually legal...

I have a concealed carry permit, but I don't have my pistol with me, as I'm living in a dorm room and they tend to frown upon that. Usually I only bring it when I go on trips, especially out of state.

Yes, it DOES make me safer.

I dont carry anything but my fists. Taking knives out is risky. And the fact that if someone did attack me, I wouldnt stab them. Then you will be in big doo doo. Even if your seen with the knife. You will get in trouble.
I dont get hassled on the streets anywayz :D....

My fists and feet are the best weapons, and they'll always be with me. If people cross me and wind me up (doesn't happen - has happened once) I'll sort myself out, but i don't go and beat people up for the sake of it. I went kickboxing - so i suppose that kinda helps, but otherwise, no weapons as such, only what i was gifted

qwOO THIS BUILDED UP QUICKLY AND I AM AWARE OF DISARMING YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW ABOUT THAT AND YOU DON'T NEED MARTIAL ARTS CLASSES TO LEARN HOW TO FIGHT SOMEONE HAD TO MAKE THEM UP. dANG LEFT THE CAPS ON aGAIN.
Edit: Hey you what's wrong with that?! is it the spanking thing, if you let your child do anything he'll be out of control and some only learn that way and that is true,
Go to your room! A mother yells and a boy goes into his room to stay in there , play with his stuff and jack off to porno mags.
see how y'all are too easy, my parents gave me spankings and I'm glad for it.

I carry a pocket knife in the front pocket of my purse at all times and if I'm walking in the afternoon I'll put it in my back pocket.

Once Myles and I were both walking and we had our knives on us and he was playing with his when a family rode by on their bicylces. A little girl waved at us so we did the same . . . except Myles had his knife open in his hand so he was actually waving the knife at her. xD!! So horrible.
