View Full Version : The EoFF Post FINALLY RELEASED!!

Lenna
09-26-2005, 10:36 PM
After long hard hours of working on the coding that UDH has done, adding my own coding etc, I have FINALLY got everything up!

The first issue, many members had contributed to our very first official EoFF Newspaper. Other members struggled to complete the deadlines but none-the-less, our dedicated members did show an outstanding quality in their work.

And well.. Here it is. Please note, on the staff page, the profiles have not been fully updated as I do not have that much info on the newspaper staff members.

I would like to thank everyone who contributed and I hope that the next issue will show just as much contribution as this one.

PS - Thanks for letting us in on the Wasim ( or whatever ) craze cause I didn't understand it and didn't feel like being the only loser questioning it.

Vampiric pornstar teletubbies? :D Fascinating.... who's idea was THAT?

Lenna
09-26-2005, 11:18 PM
Doomie, you may have done your puzzle yourself, but your puzzle was a pain in the ass to get onto the site itself, I had to take a print screen shot because it wouldn't copy over, and then colour each line individually so that when I turned the background black it wouldn't all be black. Then I had to colour each box in black!. IT WAS SO HARD!!!!! And I was impatient, especially cause I kept on messing up the lines ;_;

Vampiric pornstar teletubbies? :D Fascinating.... who's idea was THAT?

The idea originated from me calling Shauna a Vampyric Teletubbie, someone else came up with the porn star bit, and Spiffing Cheese wanted to do an article on it so yeah!

Shauna had her cousins over and they sounded so cute, and I said they sounded like teletubbies, to automatically put Shauna into the teletubbie family. Then she said one of her cousins bit her. - Hence vampires :P

Psy put Gau instead of HSU for one of the answers, thus he loses. He gets a 9/10 though!

I changed it before you sent me the answer file so nyah. 10/10. :)

As a journalism major (which I suppose is an offshoot of English) I generally find spelling and grammar errors in an edited paper something of a travesty. Especially if there are errors in the editor's piece.

well, BtV. I take full claim, however, I really didn't feel like spell-checking and fixing grammar. As I switched from JCom (Journalism Communication) to English. Everything was legible, and only minor erros. If you're going to complain, then join the staff, we could use a spell checker.

I think the first issue turned out well. Though I do agree it could be better, but most of us are really new at this. I have never written for a newspaper in my life and I'm sure many others on the EoFF Post staff haven't either. It's our first issue, if we make a few errors Marick's fine with it, Lenna's fine with it, and I'm definitely fine with it. We're all having fun and that's all that matters to me. Not necessarily saying we consider this newspaper a joke, it is a newspaper for the forum, and we aren't necessarily writing for the New York Times here. Marick and Lenna gave us plenty of feedback and we are all learning how to become better reporters.

So, props to Lenna and Marick on their first issue, you did a WONDERFUL job!

Given the amount of hard work I know was put into this and also the fact that they were working to a deadline with a lot of people saying they'd help out and then finding that they lacked the enthusiasm as days moved on... I think it was done very well indeed, better than anything I could have pulled out should I have been put in charge, that's for sure. Hats off to Tiff and Marick, as well as anyone else who did their share.

I'm in agreement that if people can spot errors, they may as well be put in charge of fixing them. :D

I quite enjoyed having a reason for my mindless babble.

As a journalism major (which I suppose is an offshoot of English) I generally find spelling and grammar errors in an edited paper something of a travesty. Especially if there are errors in the editor's piece.

Marick's right, if you would like the paper to have a lot less errors in it, we could use a proof-reader. S'up to you though :P

And thank's everyone, but really, we just got everyone together, everyone did their own pieces. That thanks should be for everyone who worked as a team with us not for me and Marick alone ;_;

On a serious note, yes, definitely, this issue turned out great. Thanks to all the staff who helped and stayed with us, and now that we have a solid structure to work with, we'll be able to keep this up and make the next one that much better.

If you would like to help out, contact Lenna and/or myself through pm, or you can send us an e-mail at EoFFEditors@yahoo.co.uk

Thank you all very much, and a special thanks to the staff.

Considering I'm the only person actually checking the grammar, and I'm in college, and I have a social life, and I also have some sanity time, maybe you could appreciate just having something (hopefully) humorous to read, minus the grammatical errors. If so, then...

join the staff. :D

I would like to add that if you would like to write in a "Letter to the Editor", then you may send it to EoFFEditors@yahoo.co.uk . We may publish it, and provide an answer if we do.

Like in a real newspaper, if you're a reader and do not agree with the statements made by the submitter of the "letter to the editor" they may also write in a response for the next issue.

for the advice column, you can find info for sending in questions at the bottom of the section. For those of you who missed it, it is EoFFAdvice@yahoo.co.uk .

Thanks

This came out really well. Good work, staff.

frunk's interview with Joel is the best.

I had fun with the scramble. That's "!trivia scramble" for you.

Oh, yeah, and then there was that other thing. For anyone who may wonder at any point - no, people. We will not ban you just because you ask us to. If you really do want to leave EoFF, nobody is stopping you!I submit Exhibit A: Czech. Republic.

There should be an extra space in the Big Jumble, but I don't know how to make more spaces in HTML.

Paper is off to a good start. I already have an idea for the second jumble. I also think we need a sportswriter of some sort.

We're actually discussing this already. WE're just trying to get more organized. We had a good handful of people who asked to be on staff and didn't contribute. After the next issue, anyone caught slacking will be removed from staff, thus we will open a few positions. Not as many as we fire, because having too many staff members join at once would be too complicated to organize in the two week period that we'll be releasing the paper.

We're also changing the entire layout for the paper for next issue. Our very own Munkee is designing it. I know you're all with me when I say, "What if she just flings poo everywhere like a real monkey?" and thus answered myself with, "Oh wait, it'd be even more near and dear to the hearts of every EoFFer."
