I'm pretty sure this won't be nearly as big a deal as fantasy football or baseball, but I figured it's worth mentioning.

We had an EoFF fantasy hockey league in the last season before the lockout, but it was only four teams. :( If we could get at least eight people interested, that'd be awesome.

Though to be frank, since I have no idea where half of the players play anymore, a live draft versus an autodraft doesn't carry the same weight.

The Stars won the Stanley Cup in '99. =\ The whole thing of "The South doesn't care about hockey" doesn't really apply here. We had about 100 or so straight sellouts end last season.

I love the Stars like I love all of my other teams, but unlike my other teams, I know next to nothing about the other teams in the NHL.

Talking about southern teams - Tampa Bay were the last team to win the cup.

And they'll be strong again this year.

So will it be an Auto-Draft? I'm in a completely different time-zone - probably 4.5 hrs different than people on the West Coast of the contintent. Plus I only get to check the league sporadically.

An autodraft usually works well. Especially with the pre-ranks. Even Yahoo's pre-ranks aren't that bad. Plus if there's only 5 to 8 eight teams in the league, there'll still be loads of great players to pick up after the draft if you wish to swap around players.

Also, the season starts tonight. You can adjust your lineups daily, so be sure to do it today if you want! Head-to-head goes week-by-week, it's really easy to get a grasp on if you've never done fantasy sports before.

Adjusting your line is easy. On any given day, the column of that day's respectable date (on the right) will tell you who's playing. Make sure that player is put into their position, but selecting RW, LW, C, D, UTIL, (or whatever the player's position is) rather than BENCH. Switch with a player who isn't playing that day, but selecting BENCH for a player who's team isn't playing.

At the moment, we're all square. The object, basically, is to win as many categories (goals, assists, +/-, etc.) week by week.

Also, Leeza, roster changes are made by moving people to and from your bench. Each player has a little box next to them where you can choose where you want them to be.

Seriously though, there are certain veterans like that who you know will always produce. Mario would be at the forefront of these.

Plus he has good support around him in Leclair, Recchi, Palffy, Gonchar, Malone, and Sid the Kid.

I just noticed something tonight........

I was watching the Senators take on the Thrashers, and it appears that Kari Lehtonen, The Thrashers' goalie, has Yuna as part of the paint job on his helmet. It was a bit hard to tell, because it wasn't zoomed in on his helmet.

Not that it matters, of course. Just an "oh, wow cool" moment to see a pro athlete with a final fantasy decal as part of his equipment.

So can anyone confirm this?

This is definitely the best of them, though. I hate the fact I'm doing better in basketball despite knowing less than I do about hockey.

Actually, Cap has an off chance of the REAL fantasy grand slam. Already won football, points away in basketball, coming strong off a playoff win in hockey, and I think he has a fine baseball team too. I say off chance because I can't see how he'll win basketball when he has a lot of his game limits reached already, and the winner of baseball is always predetermined.

I like how my meaningless 5th place game is a total bloodbath. My opponent hasn't even had a single goalie play at all. Plus I have 20 something assists.

ahh....I wish I were so fortunate. We have a major junior team here in my town, which is basically a stepping stone to the NHL. The nearest NHL team to me, is a 3 hour plane ride away :(

Now is an awesome time to watch the Sharks live. Its the playoffs, Thornton just clinched the Art Ross Trophy with the most points, and Cheechoo has just clinched the Rocket Richard Trophy with the most goals. They've got a lot of momentum going right now.
