My friend was over the other day, and I showed him [!]http://www.exploitsrus.com/ffxi.html[/!]http://forums.eyesonff.com It is a site with cheats, bugs, dupes, etc for final fantasy xi. He told me it was against the rules for ffxi to do this. Is this true? I am used to cheating on video games for my whole life, so I was sort of shocked to hear this.

It's a bannable offense in MMORPGs to cheat because players pay money to participate in an environment without that sort of contamination. Having cheaters all over the place completely takes the fun out of online games, and I've quit many online games solely because they were overrun with players who were cheating or hacking their characters.
Why you would wanna cheat in a MMORPG is beyond me. :/

Cheating does take the fun out of this game, already there are tons of people that quit because of it. Because some rare item they got so easily is not really of any value unless you went through the trials to get it.
That and from what i see, FFXI doesnt seem to currently have alot of dupes and cheats and stuff as before. You get what you pay SE for, cheating is just cheating yourself since this is not an offline game, not to mention also hurting other players(yes your actions do hurt certain other players no matter how small at times).
EDIT: Dude i found this guy posting the SAME thing on another FFXI forum, he is just advertising his site.

Everytime someone points out cheats or loopholes in the game, Squeenix is pretty quick about getting on the ball and fixing these exploits. The use of bots in fishing was probably the most common form of cheating until Squeenix made it so that wasn't feasible anymore.
The only "exploit" that I approve of that Squeenix seems to have a problem with is the FFXI windower. It's such a convenient little thing, and it boggles the mind that this is actually considered an exploit.
Also, buying gil is for lazy asshats.

I do like the Windower, and I don't understand why Square Enix is going to such lengths to destroy it. I don't consider it a huge exploit that gives someone an unfair advantage unless you take into consideration all the new plugins that the Windower now offers.

I dont know if you or anyone noticed but SE didnt seem to care about the Windower til the TP plug in i think. Then it became a problem.

How can you guys even compare legitimately playing a video game to explicitly violating the ToS by exchanging REAL money for virtual gil? That's absurd.

Well yeah it sounds kinda like giving some guy money to exchange it for money in another country's currency.
