View Full Version : The FF characters
have u eva noticed that neerly all the FF characters have the same personalaty?
e.g. Selphie and Rikku, Dagger and Yuna
...right. You ever write a fantasy story? Square uses some pretty basic personalities for their characters. And? They gotta be doing something right. People still buy the games and love the characters, and love Square for it.

Well, if they used ORIGINAL characters we might not play their games anymore *cough*

I'm sorry, but aren't there only so many personalities people can have?

Every game needs an annoying happy-go-lucky comic relief character, prefferably a thief. Thats just the say it is, you're not the only one who hates it.

Actually your on to something there....Anyway i could write an essay about different personalities in video games, BUT im gonna keep it simple...
In ALMOST every game of FF there is..
The Cool Strong Loner ie. Cloud, Squall, Auron, Nooj, Vincent
The Cheery Positive Person ie. Rikku, Eiko Yuffie, Selphie
The Oaf ie Steiner, Cait Sith, Irvine, Wakka
The Negative but Heroic ie Barret, Lulu, Paine, Amarant
The Mild and Beautiful ie Aeris, Rinoa, Garnet, Yuna
The Comical Relief ie Cait Sith, Zell...Zidane,Tidus
AND......
THE VILLIANS ie Sephiroth(All Hail), Seifer, Ultimecia, Kuja, Sin and Mr Veggie
see its not another Square Enix conspiracy!
COUGH! MOBILE PHONES IN ADVENT CHILDREN COUGH!
Anyway i hope that helps

In a way, it is kinda fun, because with each new game that they show us we have fun by trying to guess who will be the next Selphie. :)

Perhaps the fault doesn't lie with square's boring characters, but with people in the world all behaving similarly.
Draw a few generalizations, and you have a set of characters where everyone might find at *least* one to identify with.

No it's really Square's fault. They made the games, thus they're responsible for all the content.
