Ronnie was someone whom the middle generation grew up with (my father, people in their late 40s now), and for many defined the conventions of comedy. With his passing it's almost like the old-school went with him. The likes of the Two Ronnies, Porridge and Open All Hours have been firmly replaced by Friends, Coupling and Sex And The City. It's almost the end of innocence in a way. There's a definite feeling of change with his death, or perhaps realisation of change that has occured irregardless. This is merely the full stop.

We'll miss you Ron.

BBC actually cut there TV schedule to fit in a show dedicated to Ronnie Barker, now thats love......

Ooh, we could set a memorial for him with a twenty foot statue!
I shall compose a poem on the spot!

that didn't happen to him. (I know it doesn't rhyme, I'm not good enough to do that on the spot.)
