After reading this (http://www.bbc.co.uk/comedy/profiles/ronnie_barker.shtml), I think I'd be sadder if I'd seen his show or something.

Ronnie was someone whom the middle generation grew up with (my father, people in their late 40s now), and for many defined the conventions of comedy. With his passing it's almost like the old-school went with him. The likes of the Two Ronnies, Porridge and Open All Hours have been firmly replaced by Friends, Coupling and Sex And The City. It's almost the end of innocence in a way. There's a definite feeling of change with his death, or perhaps realisation of change that has occured irregardless. This is merely the full stop.

We'll miss you Ron.

Yeah. Ronnie Barker was famous enough to make the 20-mile jump across the Irish sea. Pay attention, silly bean-robot-person!

The world will never be the same! He will be mourned through the generation(s?).
Ooh, we could set a memorial for him with a twenty foot statue!
I shall compose a poem on the spot!

Sqaunder not the short life we have,
For when it be gone, naught is left.
'Tis a sad day when a man dies,
With no one left who knows his name.

that didn't happen to him. (I know it doesn't rhyme, I'm not good enough to do that on the spot.)
