Actually it's 56

jehjfsej :D

edit: no wait. don't you divide BEFORE adding and subtracting? I could've sworn that's how it goes. I think the answer is 65. >:/ it is.

edit2: hey, wait. Are we doing your homework now? :rolleyes2

I looked at it, and my brain broke. I don't like Math at all, especially Algebra. Even Geometry is bad, and that's mostly graphing shapes so far.

Yeha my math skills failed me for a second there.

First 6^2
Then you subtract (8/2) from 36
Then you add (3*8)
And you get 56

Lame. Try this /xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif, bitches.

What is 2x^2-8/(x-2)^2 when x = 0? Furthermore, at what point is that equation constant?

What's to the 2nd power? (2*[^2])

The point of the original post was to place parenthesis so that it was true when order of operations was applied.

-2, and "constant at a given point" doesn't make sense for an equation.

7/8*1/5=7/40?

7/8*1/5=7/40?

no.
you're wrong (for once)

and it's 5/1, not 1/5
(other than that, you have it right)

rubah
10-09-2005, 01:41 AM
You said 7/8 divided by five. that's the same as multiplying by 1/5.

I gots a latta moe info!!
10-09-2005, 01:46 AM
the real answer is 4 3/8
7*5=35
8*1=8
35-/-8=4.3
4 3/8
get it?

rubah
10-09-2005, 01:54 AM
That would be multiplying 7/8 by 5, not dividing. Generally the / sign denotes division. Given your original problem of 7 8ths/5, that would be 7/8 ÷ 5.

mental math, the $calc() function in mIRC and the windows calculator all give me 0.175 or 7/40

you do division, eventually. 35/8. but you're right, that's multiplying, not division.

that's just how I was taught it.

I need more problems. Gimme problems!!!
(keep it easy, though)

Find the integral of (e^x)sinxdx. Use the Looper Method by Parts.

The math you're doing bores me.

(and what is e and x???)
and what does integral mean!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'm 17. ;]

And come now, that's pretty easy. It's just integration by parts that you do twice.

e = 2.71828183
x is a variable.

The integral of f(x) is simply the the equation for which f(x) is the measure of its slope, or derivative. The integral of 2x is the equation for which the derivative at a point can be found by using 2x, or simply x^2 + C.

/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif/xxx.gif, I should have said when is it zero. I f**ked up.

It's like that IRC quote on bash.org where some guy says something about "don't you hate it when you **** on the floor and you're looking around for like 10 minutes and can't find it" and everyone was like ZOMGWTF and he eventually realized what he said and says "OMFG I meant don't you hate it when you DROP ****".

Edit: int(e^x sin x dx) = [(e^x)(sin x - cos x)/2] + C.

Jesus, I hate the lack of math symbols in php.

Yup.

Now, from someone who hasn't answered, what is it when the slope is zero?
