Ok, here's the thing. I would like to back up my PS1 games and I would just like to know if there is anything out there in the internet world that will allow me to encrypt my burns in such a way that the PS1 or PS2 will play them without having it moded?

You could buy a CD pressing machine.

What's that? I've never heard of those. How much and where can I get one?

The short answer is "you don't". Cost is prolly in the tens of thousands.

I've heard of some ways to do it but have never been able to copy games successfully. My guess is that you would need a modchip of some sort regardless of how you copied the games.

Just use nero and cd to cd copy.. it works in my PSX and PS2 and I do it everytime.

You can as syun_ukiya says burn from CD to CD, however you may, depending on the game will need either a chip or a CD like Action Replay Max to start the games. Remember that a lot of the more recent games are copy protected. Note: if you are copying PS2 game you usually have to copy them onto a blank DVD-R. I have never successfully copied a game though., the files on the actual disk where much larger than the space on the DVD and unless you are HIGHLY skilled in programming or have a background in Computer Games programming I wouldn't think you would be able to split a disk on to two or three.

there is an option cd to cd. you can use nero wizard. btw i think your ps or ps2 needs to be modded to play burnt games. both of my units are.
