Is there a feature on vB that shows who is viewing what forums at the bottom right of that forum? If so, or anything like that, I was wondering if we could add that, to see whose viewing what.

Thoughts, before this leads to a spam fest?

We've had that in the past, but I guess it got removed for some reason. I doubt the admins would want that back anyway.

you can see what everyone is viewing under the "currently active users" link at the top of the main page, but we don't offer forum-specific lists.

You can enable that in the admin CP, but it requires an extra DB query.

I don't know why that was ever removed. I thought it was cool.

Could we possible add that in then?

but that would require an extra DB query, and OMG WE CAN'T HAVE THAT IT WOULD SLOW EVERYTHING DOWN!!!

You might get away with that sort of nonsense at Fool's Gold, but here is another story.

If they start accepting one thing, soon they'll have Aaron back here with his list of hacks.

Yeah it would be easy to add this. But I guess we won't. I dunno.

I don't think this is a cookie scenario exactly, and I miss The Man and his needless hacks.

search engine bots, which is as good a reason as any not to list everyone viewing each forum at the bottom. You'd get three or four actual members and ten or so spiders in each forum.

Yeah, the bots are infiltrating to take over the world!

Be wary, soon they will outnumber and outsmart us taking over with one foul swoop!

We may not live to spam another day ;_;

I've never seen a "viewing forum" feature that listed spiders and lurkers, just members. But nice try with the lame excuse, eest! Now get to work!

Nah, no need for it as far as I'm concerned. If you really want to know who's online, go to who's online. If you want to see what they're doing, go see what they're doing. But yeah, we're trying to cut back on queries rather than add to them - the less the better.

"One more query" reminds me of "One more turn" on that CivAnon video or whatever it was.
