why is it called gil? what does gil mean in japan or is it just random. i dont know why its called gil, help.

Just so you know, when I read the sentence "Take this seriously!" it looks an awful lot like "Make a joke at my expense!" to me.

Gil is, as is the case with most systems of currency, named after the monarch who was in power when the idea was concieved. In this case, Gillian Anderson, who has teh hawtness.

I always thought it was short for gillion, as in- "I wish I had a gillion dollars."

or maybe it has to deal with the word gild- to cover with or as if with a thin layer of gold.

I think I'll stick with the gillion idea though.

So like what is the money unit for gil is it like the yen where you have to give a whole bunch of bills or is it like the dollar were you dont ?

i think it coins
and 1 gil is one coin
etc
so the party basically carries 1,000,000 coins with them and they have to count em at every shop all the time
