Well, Its got my vote. http://www.nytimes.com/2005/10/13/technology/circuits/13POGUE-EMAIL.html

15,000 songs, Alot more photos and now videos.
I always knew the day would come when my ipod photo would be shadowed but I was hoping that wouldnt happen till 2006 :/ Its still pretty hardcore though.

oh...

Its skinnier too.

No fast forward feature. No Divx or Xvid support. No thanks. I would actually consider getting an iPod nano if they had something bigger than 4GB and it didn't scratch so easily. Then again, my Zen Micro is perfect for what it does, play music.

Then again, my Zen Micro is perfect for what it does, play music. No fast forward? Are you talking about songs? You can fast forward any song by holding down the left/right button during play or you can double click the center and go to any point in the song you want. I'd imagine a similar process would be used for videos. And the Divx and xvid support is technical for me so I dont care too much. Anyway if I can have photos music and videos over just music I'll say yes anyday.

Oh yipee, I can watch .mov files on the move, could life get anymore infuriating?
There have been good, more compatible, multimedia players out for some time now. Archos has been churning out some reasonable ones for ages.

What I find cool is that its all these features in one with so much space. The only bad thing is the battery.

Blow me, Apple.

You can’t fast forward, but you can scroll back and forth on a progress bar—just as you do with music—to jump forward and back in the video.
You'll have to guess from looking at the progress bar where to stop. The battery life for video playback is pretty pathetic.

Blow me, Apple.Wow that looks deadly. I'd be a bigger fan of Zen in general if there fans didnt advertise everything they ever make as an attack on the iPod. It comes off like apples trying to improve there products and Zens trying to keep up. People get so pissed off just because the ipods more popular.

Meh. There still aren't any half-decent MP3 players on the market, as far as I'm concerned.

I'm going to wait a few years before investing in one.

I'm happy with my normal colourless 20 GB iPod, though having colour on it would be pretty nice. But I want an iPod for music, not for colour, so eh. :)

I haven't tried out the new iPod, so I'm not giving it a thumbs-up or thumbs-down just yet. I must admit, though, that when I learned the details, I couldn't help shaking my head in amazement at the way Apple approached the conceptual problems of video in your pocket.

I couldn't help but do the exact same thing. Apple moved in on the PVP scene, but they did it without making their player bigger, in fact they did the reverse. It's 45% slimmer!

I have a basic Lavod Mp3 player 500MB, sure not very big but it plays music and thats what I like it for.

them headphones that are like a necklace mabe expensive but they're extremely fragile, I dropped them and the right ear won't work, I don't know too much on it's mechanism stuff so I won't dare mess with it.

Other headphones are just as good.

Add lack of Vorbis and WMA support to the list of shortcomings.

What's up with no OGG support on almost all MP3 players? That makes me sad to re-encode all my OGGs in MP3.:(

I sold my Nano and bought a black 30 giger. Why the heck did they announce this weeks after Nano?

Anyhow, there are plenty of programs out there that will convert divx to mp4 or mov, which will work. And I think even iTunes will do some of the encoding for you.

I'm just praying that the new iPod has a decent battery life while watching video. The site only said 2.5 hours or something... :(

I want a bigger memory stick for my PSP. It's the best MP3 player ever 'cause I play Mario Bros 3 on it. :D

Lets hope that it doesn't scratch by looking at it like the ipod nano.

My phone is my MP3 player. It's got plenty of storage, it can play any format of music and video (to the best of my knowledge) and it has decent battery life. :D

It plays totally kickin' rad games too. Like Everquest.

Who the hell on here is going to have a musical taste worthy of 15,000 different songs?

I love all sorts of bands & my number would only amount to about 5-6,000.

Thats so you can balance out your 5,600 songs with xxxxx number of photos and xxx number of videos. They all take up space.

Unless you used a high bitrate...that 15,000 song estimate assumes 128kbps encoding which is low.
