It's apparent that Edea's hat is similar to the helmet worn by the man in da Vinci's sketch here. Do you suppose that it is the inspiration for Edea's? I think so. :D

Want to know what els is interesting, it was made in 1472 (our time) one century before edea's date in the picture (1572 FFVIII time, check Raine's tombstone). Edea's a renaissance woman, she is a master of magic, a politician, plus she along with Cid organized the whole Garden thing. Is there nothing she can't do? :D

Nomura stated that he wanted Edea to look positively witchy. Da Vinci's drawing there reminds me more of a helmet a conquistadore might wear xD

Did you catch this during the parade scene? I didn't at first, but as the picture shows, you have an hourglass figured woman here with...:p
I guess that it's in the spirit of the ancient Romans with their phallus' all over their cities.

There are many more. What have you got?

This quite interest me...square is indeed getting ideas/inspirations from greek/norse/roman mythology and even latin.....
I think square staffs thinks that myth's are true?

A writer once said this:
"History Became Legend...
...Legend Became Myth..."

this words are quite true the only thing that makes people thinks that legends and myth are not true is because of time...

From a writer: "Much that once was is lost... for none now lived who remember it"

yeah the only thing thats left is books....
(Sorry if it is off-topic)

That painting Da' Vinci made really looks like Edea's head protector gear.

Actually, you took that from the LotR movies. That was something Galadriel said during the startup.

"History became legend, legend became myth, and for two and a half thousand years, the Ring passed out of all knowledge. Until, when chance came, it ensnared a new bearer."

In the renaissance era that's how people really draw/paint...that painting was made by Da' Vinci I'm quite sure its worth something...

Art's in the eye of the beholder some people likes it some people dont...thats just my opinion...
also in their time people dont appreciate art...I mean they dont even know what art is...until some collectors/nobles realized that art has something that you cant explain then people started to accept art (some of them says that..."that painting is so beautiful" but the truth is that they really dont understand the very essence of it, they just say that because its worth a fortune...) and today paintings like that are really $$$ hehehe

To tell you the truth until today I still dont understand art :( I just get an inspiration when I draw one but still I feel that there is something missing in all of my works but WHAT IS IT?   a painter once told me that art needs "life", it has to be life-like...but how can I do that? :(

Speaking of connections, Terra in FFVI wore a "slave crown" which robbed her of her conscious. Edea's hat-thing can be thought of as a nastalgic take on Terra's experince. They are similar, they have the gift of magic, and are being controlled for other's gain. It's common for Square to have themes (like orphans in III & VIII, or interrupted by fireworks in VII & VIII, the list goes on and on). In any case, it suits Edea well to wear it.

i'm still convinced that ff3 and ff8 are connected because Square meant to make them connected.

I don't see how that sketch is connected to Edea at all.

well there's that beak like thing in the front, then there's the swirly thing at the back of the beak, and then there's the wing-like feature at the back of the helmet.

Beak? I think that it's supost to be a visor, only Edea's is magical and can melt away instead of being lifted up. I always thought that Edea's back part there lookes like a betta:greenie:

Edea wasn't the first, and probably not the last.
